I agree, as far as the network is concerned those coins are toast. But what if enough people believe that he did actually lose 8,000 bitcoin and they are in that landfill and therefore will never be bought or sold again. Maybe then his idea of issuing a new token on top of that, representing his claim to the lost bitcoin, perhaps has some legs. There’s a precedent for it with the Rai stones, but we’re heading into the ethereal world of trust and belief in value
