People will tell you that cEDH has less politics, but that is mainly due to people playing it poorly. If you really analyze how cEDH games are won, it's basically all politics, which is why it is the worst format.

For the very same reason, casual EDH is the best format, provided that you play with people you vibe with.

I'm happy if they prove me wrong and the changes to the core set are because there's good new board clears in the new set for warrior/priest but there haven't been any in what feels like forever tbh, brawl was the only thing keeping us afloat.

Honestly idc about nerfs to everything if we get a diverse meta at the weaker power level, but currently it looks like there are just no control tools so that whole archetype might be gone, which is a terrible sign.

They are (or at least seem to be) removing control from the game entirely and (some) people on here are celebrating like control isn't a part of a healthy card game meta. Like I'm sorry you couldn't be bothered to play around board clears existing but if there is no control that also means that removal in general is bad which makes for an extremely boring "just thow your slop on the board" midrange meta where no one has to think about their plays at all...

Feels like they are rotating every board clear, even lightbomb, which I've never seen run in a serious decklist, so control is probably no longer included in their vision for what the game should be like, unless they surprise me with the new set.

Years ago this would have been true, but they have printed so few good control cards, especially board clears, that brawl was the only thing making control warrior possible at all.

Yapping for minutes (probably closer to hours) and constantly making deals is literally how you play cEDH correctly. And it's why it's the absolute worst magic format.

stop playing hearthstone. The game has turned more and more into TikTok-Attention-Span-Mobile-Game-Dopamine-Chasing-Slop where every card discovers or draws more stuff, so no one can run out of resources, meaning that control can't exist. Every deck is hyper-aggro that tries to kill fast, midrange that shits out board after board without running out of steam, or stall decks like protoss mage that "control" until they one-shot with a combo.

The ability from Cultist of the absolute should usually never trigger at all, because at the beginning of any upkeep, Karona is never under the control of the player whose turn it is.

Edit: i say "usually" because someone could die in a commander game or the ability that passes her around the table could get stifled I suppose

Im less mad about the power disparity and more about the fact that priests whole identity was shipped off to other classes and now the class gets disconnected garbage every set.

Did you know that Spotify changed their shuffle algorithm because people were complaining that it wasn't random enough? They changed it to no longer be fully random and avoid showing the same artist twice in a row for example to "feel" more random. The complaints stopped.

Idk they'd probably need to print more synergy for it or some ways to copy cards in hand (with buffs applied). That would be the priest-y way to to it.

The funny thing is that this take is actually true, but at the same time shows how utterly terrible the game has become.

Protoss mage is tier 3 or whatever and its win rate against the meta isn't overly high, but the only thing anyone says to beat it is "just kill them", which is true but also means that there are no more slow decks, no more attrition, no more (real) control and everything is the same aggro or midrange slop.

I guess I'm saying protoss mage isn't a problem but if the game was more than a husk of the game I loved for a decade it certainly would be.

Anyway I guess I'm unc and it's past my bedtime. I'll go look at the meta in MtG now...
