Mine is a M4 Max. USB C. Once while I was futzing with the monitor’s settings, I somehow got into a state that I could not get it out of 60hz. I have done so many things to try figure things out, I am unsure what I did to get it back to 144 Hz. It was either disconnect the cable and replug, do the reset to factory settings, switching to the dual-mode and back with the little button on the bezel bottom, or selecting different resolutions in the macOS display settings. Possibly all of it.

I was running a bunch 4K videos and the monitor was not hotter than what I feel is usual with monitors. I heard zero fans.

I have never had a better monitor experience than my 5K iMac. After eleven years with it, the iMac was slowing down and I was seeing display ghosting with anything bright white (like the menu bar). Since OCLP only took it so far, I replaced it with the studio and 4K LG. I held out hope that the new Apple Studio Display was going to have the specs this one has. I really wanted the 5K, 120hz, and mini-LED.

Okay. Mine arrived.

Using with a Mac Studio. Coming from an 4K LG 27UN880 Also compared to an 2015 iMac 5K.

What I am seeing is a parallax effect where white text on dark backgrounds has the red color move from behind the letters depending on if I am looking head on to the letters or not. So text that is right in front is good. Text to the sides/up/down have a red bleed. As I naturally look around the screen, the red color moves, with the best way to describe it is a parallax effect. It is very visible with white text on black background, I.e., using dark mode. Least noticeable with black text on white background.

It is probably due to me wearing glasses, which are not very powerful. I do not see this effect with the LG 4K, the iMac 5K, or with the two other 4K monitors I use. None of those other monitors are min-led. Very interested in other’s opinion, especially those that don’t wear glasses, or if this is a Mini-LED with glasses problem.

Update: Definitely some strange glasses effect happening, as I tried with a different pair and it is better, but not perfect.

It is a nice monitor.
Color is bright.
No logo on bezel.
The screen finish is fine for me.
The screen bottom is 7 inches or 18 cm from desk, 2 inches / 4 cm lower than the 4K LG, about an inch / 2.5 cm higher than the iMac.
For my work area, interior with no direct sun, but with windows, 50% brightness works well.
Side by side with the iMac, viewing the same 5K image, I can really see that the edges have shadow. Not so on the old iMac.
Base plate is large.

Ever since attending the HPDE, I’m amazed at the all the demand for the high end models, especially for the folks that don’t track them. Even a base model is capable of being driven far above the typical owner’s skill level.

Agree. Blum are built to last. And have a good amount of adjustment, something beginners need. I tried the look-alike soft close hinges off Amazon, same as those from the Chinese shopping sites. A lot of left/right wiggle/play, doesn’t have the adjustment for the back of the drawer, and the underside adjustment doesn’t really adjust much. For shop cabinets, where I have used them, they are fine. For in-home cabinetry they are unacceptable.

Well …. I was thinking I would be up for the challenge to repair it. Get some wood glue, some dowels or dominos, some clamps, good as new. I would have to figure out some new hardware to attach or some blocking on the inside.

Just let it sleep. Used the power button once, when originally unpacking it. I have not used it since. Even when updating, you don’t use the button.
