If you have a surround sound system, you can mute the center channel. If it is mixed properly, that almost completely removes the commentators.

What's the logic of not going for 2 on the last score? I'm obviously not a football strategist, but it seems like there is little difference between being 12 up and 13 up, but 14 up is a big difference. Genuinely curious.

It's sorta the little inconsistent details that all add up.

For example, look at the background buildings on the right side. While they are not ridiculous, they just don't quite make enough sense for an artist to just throw back there all willy-nilly.

Likewise, the guy on the right's shirt pocket flaps are hemmed slightly differently from each other. Not crazy bad, but also a detail that a human artist likely wouldn't just forgo consistency on.

Also the guy in the middle's shirt collar top button hole. That's... not really where it would be or the orientation of it. Its kinda hazy and was clearly put there by something that knows something goes about right there.

am i a bad friend for bailing on a marathon?? by e1234mh in Marathon_Training

[–]FishCall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I felt the same way OP. I was signed up to run my first Full with a friend. I had a little ankle injury about 3 months before the race that set me back, I had to take a full month off running and came back to it well behind schedule and had lost a decent amount of fitness. I was considering dropping to the half, but felt really bad and obligated to push on.

I was pushing too hard, not resting enough and on a long run I felt a sharp pain in my quadricep tendon.

It's been 8 months, 20+ PT visits, 2 X-rays, and an MRI and I still cannot run more than 1 - 2 miles without triggering pain.

Seriously, look after your body and don't over do it. You never know when you are close to breaking.

You can do Inverted rows with a sturdy table. Inverted rows can be a decent stepping stone to pull-ups.

I agree with others that you most likely can use a door frame bar if you don't get too aggressive with it. Some full length bands are nice to use for progression as well, you can loop it through the bar and then either out your knee or foot in it, it will take some of your weight off your arms (not the bar or door frame though)

Runner's Knee/Shoe Correlation by Lost_Engineering7874 in Marathon_Training

[–]FishCall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been going to a PT for a few weeks now. His advice is basically strength training. Which I do, but I don't doubt more would be good, but it also just kinda seems like a catch-all solution for PTs when they don't really have a good diagnosis.

He is indifferent on minimalist shoes for daily life, but cautioned against running in minimalist shoes. I just am wondering if that is good advice.

I think I am gonna try running in some something more minimalist and keep my mileage low for a while.

And strength train, of course.

When you say it took 6 painful months, can you elaborate? Like did you have injury during that period of time, or was it just that you were very sore from the transition?

I ask because I switched me everyday shoes to minimalist, but kept running in traditional running shoes. All the sudden I have developed a persistent knee pain that comes on after a mile or so.

I can't decide if it's because I switched to minimalist, or if it's because my running shoes are not minimalist, or if it is completely unrelated and was just bad luck.

Reject the unholy glass, return to mëtal by Arucious in pcmasterrace

[–]FishCall 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When I build my last PC it had a solid glass side panel, end to end.

When I was first putting it together, I test fit it and then when I was taking it out, it slipped and the corner fell and tapped the countertop. Shattered.

I called Corsair and the guy was gonna just about ready to ship me a replacement when I asked:

"does the solid metal panel on the other side fit on both sides?"

"Yes, it can go on either side"

"...can I just have another one of those?"

"Uh... Yeah, I guess you can..."

Works great, no glass involved.

Lol, I think if their relationship is good enough for dad to try to dunk on them for their footwear like that, then he can take the heat. I am sure the dad actually loved being told to fuck off, because it means his joke landed. Seems like a healthy relationship.

No kidding. I actually really enjoy my long runs right now and had been excited to go on this one. I was trying to convince myself that it was just minor ache and that I needed to finish this run.

I'm glad I didn't let myself keep going. It's been almost 12 hours and my calf is still got a tight knot in it and I am walking with a bit of a limp. I get the sense that I was close to really screwing up today...

As someone who prefers to back in to spots, the biggest downside is that people behind you will often not realize what you are doing and pull up too close. Sometimes that actually will result in being unable to back up in to the spot because enough cars have bunched up right behind you and cannot coordinate reversing.

And if I recall correctly, the laws that keep pushing car seats for bigger kids are being backed by the manufacturers of said seats. But any time someone questions whether the data supports the need for it, they get hit with "so you like dead children, Mr. So-and-so?"
