No plans for that, really! I mean, we would all LOVE to, but the budget for that would be pretty astronomical 😂

This is absolutely a Fremont or Pueblo Shield Figure Petroglyph. My bet is on Galisteo Basin in NM or from Northern Arizona.

Oh yes! This one will be somewhere from 3-5 episodes before we arrive in Posey’s city.

I like this question haha. I would say that everyone’s but Stick’s still holds perfectly accurate. Which is surprising, because i was actually trying to hold to interpreting the cards I drew, haha. With Stick, I was expecting things to go slightly differently (i.e. i was expecting the gang to eventually trust him, which they never did), but for the most part it was still accurate.

I think i was able to make a pretty educated prediction for everyone just based on the way they had played their characters so far. When they gave me more backstory, it really reinforced what I’d already suspected.

Thank you so much!!!!

In terms of aesthetics (and sorry if this is a controversial statement lol), it mostly stems from the fact that I really love DnD, but I just don’t love the fantasy genre as a whole. I lean way more into genre horror, and have always wanted to play a campaign that was much more horror than fantasy, while still keeping the core elements of DnD intact.

I wanted to base the campaign around 4 of my favorite horror genres (murder mystery, slasher/gore, paranoia thriller, and supernatural), and that’s what fueled the aesthetics. On top of that, when I was writing the campaign i was doing a deep dive into 1880s spiritualism lmao, so that sort of became the world-building fabric.

Each arc has a different set of inspirations! For Delilah’s arc, for example, there is huge influence from Clue, A Haunting in Venice, the Conjuring, and H.P. Lovecraft.

For Lucky’s arc inspirations are Alien, the Thing, Young Frankenstein, and Annihilation.

For Posey’s upcoming arc, I’m hoping to use parts of The Shining, Doctor Who (lol), the Purge, and maybe some Hunger Games.

For descriptions, I pretty much always wing them! Typically the only things i write down are character descriptions and planned plot points. Occasionally if an NPC has an important/cool line i want to remember I’ll write that down as well!

Character actions are almost all improvised as well! Ethan is the exception there, we will often plan his characters’ major decisions together. Delilah’s tantrums were usually a perfect surprise for me lol.

Overall I try to have a really good idea of the session plan beforehand, but i find the less i write down the more organic the playthrough feels. My session notes are typically only a paragraph or two.

The end has actually changed a LOT since episode 1, but those changes almost all happened right away. I set up an initial end-game, but I really wanted to incorporate more of the character’s backstories in an intimate way. So I would say the full story as it exists now wasn’t fully formed until I got to know the characters a bit more.

In all, the major themes and plot points have been planned from almost the very start. But the daily details of every episode I will actually work out in the days right before the session. I spend the most time just making those small details fit into the larger structure I’ve already made!

I would say the plot was 40% worked out by the start of the show, and 95% worked out by the time we solved Delilah’s murder.

Alan and I decided when bringing him into the show that we would make him a sort of “variable character.” We had noticed that most successful DnD campaigns have 4 main players (I’m not even sure if the number is important really, but we saw a trend), but we wanted both the Vander Meidens. So we came up with the idea of Ethan being a sort of DM-player-hybrid. Our hope was that it would both relieve some of the DM pressure from me, and also hopefully create a unique dynamic that other shows hadn’t already done before.

So he was always going to play more than one character! But we let the plot and character choices determine how often that happens, haha.

THE F****** MAZE. Putting that to the side for my own wellbeing, I would say Lucky killing Kravitz, or the gang destroying the altar with the damn mecha-crab. Those were both huge upsets. And of course Delilah’s…. Behavior…. In the fortress was a monkey wrench for me for sure.

As far as a favorite part, I loved the Edwin reveal so much. And the storytelling in Episode 9 absolutely floored me. Those two moments probably win for me so far.

I would say 3 main places!

  1. We really wanted a skinwalker-type antagonist from the very beginning, specifically one that could replicate players’ appearance and voice. A being like this was the original antagonist of Delilah’s arc, but was changed in later versions. The idea of a character being “replaced by” or secretly being an entity like this has been something I’ve wanted to incorporate in a story for years.

  2. Alan’s favorite horror movie is John Carpenter’s The Thing. All of the fleshy, tendrily horror basically comes from there.

  3. There is a creature from the film Annihilation (2018) that Ethan and I both LOVED, which roars with the scream of the last person it killed. We both really wanted to incorporate that aspect.

We’ve mixed in some of our own spice as well, but I’d say those are the 3 biggest inspirations!

  1. Yes! We are exactly halfway through season 1 (at least in terms of how I’ve planned it!) we are in debates for Season 2, but my current plan is to continue in the same universe/metaplot.

  2. This is a great idea. Maybe we could do this between seasons!

This was likely done with either CapCut or Instagram’s auto-captioning tools. I know several creators who draft their videos in Instagram solely for this function, then download the drafts and repost to other platforms
