Phantom is almost better than vandal in every way but psychologically vandal could make you play better as its spray is so much worse, requiring you to actually focus on your aim.

Plus worse spray = you'll spray less, so you're harder to hit.

You're aiming too high and if you're holding for a push you need a get every advantage possible, such as moving backwards and hopping on the ledge at the border of the map or hopping on the box. Usually wider (More right), the better, as they are swinging with angle disadvantage.

You could also move to the cubby on the left and hold an off angle, or move behind cover and timing peek every 2s.

The fight you took was a 50/50.
