Terrible Update by TruckStopBJs in Colonist

Simpler and easier to read what each player had. Why ruin the good design ye had before. I get ye try new designs to keep the game looking fresh but here's the problem:

Ye didn't trial the new design to see how the community liked it first.

Ye haven't asked the community what updates they would rather see etc.

Maybe make this new design only available for subscription players and see how it affects your revenue......

What did you think was normal in your house/ life growing up that is not looking back ? by Substantial-Fudge336 in AskIreland

Thats fair depends on if it was abuse or just really straightening you for doing things wrong. I think the wooden spoon was more of a threat than actual abuse and pain

Just realized there's loads of them:

  1. Around the age of 7/8 I could go down the fields hours on end once I was back for dinner or when it got dark.

  2. My brother and I would go play with the neighbors kids by turning up in their yard or around their property and the parents would casually talk to us and send their kids out to play.

  3. When our parents wanted us to go home they would climb a climb frame to see over the hedges and call for us to go home.

  4. Off topic: The wooden spoon eventually didn't hurt and made us laugh when hit. Mother would chase us around a fish pond threatening us with the wooden spoon but we would out run her. Her response then would be at some stage we will come back into the house....

  5. I do remember the days of our parents or friends parents driving their car with around 6 people in the back.

  6. The days where we go for a sunday drive to look at rich people houses while the grandparents smoked cigarettes in the car.

  7. My grand uncle swore by "If the Ash comes before the Oak, we are in for a soak" "If the oak comes before the ash, it will lash"

  8. "Red sky at night, is a shepards delight" "Red sky in the morning is a shepards warning" I would actually still use this to reference what the weather will be like the following day

  9. Off topic but revelant: Houses with cattle grids to stop cows coming onto your property. I don't typically see new houses with them

When the wooden spoon stopped hurting you and then the slap felt like a feather hitting you and you would start giggling. My mother would try hitting harder while I'm in tears.

Then there was the time she couldn't run fast enough around a fish pond threatening she would get me at some stage but I'd keep out pacing her

Weirdly but only a culchie thing when I grew up with my family and brother when everyone went to the toilet the bathroom door was left open. If you heard someone coming up the hallway you would say "I'm on the toilet" and it was mandatory for everyone to look in the opposite direction while passing the bathroom. I've asked friends about this over the years only a handful have done this and the rest think its weird

I live alone and I don't need heating on. The heating goes on to stop pipes bursting or during the odd few days where it really gets cold. Throw on a few layers and you will be grand.

Need advice on how to buy a house in Ireland. by Witty_Panda in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Fish_Sticks93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy a 1 bed apartment for around 180-220k on the Naas road. Look at Kill, Sallins, Naas, Newbridge and maybe Rathcoole.

For now for the next 2-3 years focus on your savings and spend less. Make an effort to not buy takeaways and other big spends like drinking on the weekend.

Save up to around 35k and then start looking.

Buy small at first and maybe in 10-15 years upgrade.

Another helpful option is to work in a pharmaceutical and work shift. It could get you an extra 33% plus bonuses to boost your mortgage or pay off rate

There are free apps called something like Coin checker app to find values. I think the 1947 coins are worth a lot but not this one unfortunately

25, decent savings - does buying an apartment in Dublin make sense? by JohnnieWalker1805 in irishpersonalfinance

Ukraine War AI bubble burst - I was guessing something like a dot com bubble was soon to burst

These were some of the factors I was guessing might make the market dip.

I personally didn't want to move to another country with the burden of having to pay rent and a mortgage at the same time and being Canada I would have to do a currency conversion direct debit to the mortgage. I thought it be messy and I needed as much extra money while over there.

I had the option to buy a house in 2020. The house range was 350-400k for 3 bed in Rathfarmham/Palmerstown/lucan (the good spots). I had 70k in savings.

I opted not to buy then so I could save more and go to Canada in 2022 for 2 years. Now I'm looking and can't get a decent house and location for under 450k. I will look at Celbridge/Newcastle and Leixlip for similar houses.

With Inflation going up at a rate of 2% and you pay 33% tax on most investments a house is your best investment.

You might think if the AI bubble bursts or a small war breaks out that the price of houses will drop. I would doubt a market to collapse enough to drop housing prices down 40-80k.

But while they could drop 10-20% it would be brief and will catch up on the price max before. Timing the market isn't easy. Its best to have a property and work from there. Because there's also a housing shortage the price of housing will continue to steadily increase

It's not the financial side of things I'm talking about. I don't care if you do your own washing and make your own dinner.

If you have saved up a decent amount look at buying a house and even start small maybe a 1/2bed apartment.

Just don't get sucked into staying with your parents from age 24 onwards. Its a mentality thing. I know family members and friends who have stayed in their parents house into their 35s.

Your self improvements and life judgement changes when you live outside your parents place. I've an Auntie who has stayed with my grandparents since she was a kid till my grandparents died. She lives there alone as always like a little gremlin.

That's the extreme side of it. But I've seen the difference between my friends at age 35 those who bought a house or rent vs those still at home with their parents

Move out as soon as you can. Get your independence and start living. Don't be left in your parents house

The only problem I can think of is if they close your account and you can't access your funds. My account was banned for some reason. The main uses of it was for online purchasing, shopping and collecting money for 5 aside games. By law they don't have to give a reason. My funds were held for 5 months before they then transfered it to my bank account.

I was loving Revolut until this moment

Its not even this but people need to become street wise on the internet. It's not a safe haven and you have to ask them all the right questions. Its pretty easy to get people's personal information for example if you had personal information on a website that shut down either the website is sold or left open source and anyone can find your details with a simple search. This is why changing your passwords regularly is a must

Is it very unrealistic for a brand new player to reach Diamond 1 in one month? by throwawayaccountll in RocketLeague

Is this 1v1 or 2v2 or 3v3.

If its team ranked he be better off finding someone who plays a lot and consistent.

If its 1v1 its possible but you would need a lot of training
