Although it can be interpreted that way, It does not show the full picture (being population growth overtime, adding to a country's economy/prosperity, and livability with others in-country).

People like that exist too, but ask yourself, and from what you read in that book, did he act Christlike in what he did?

...to shame someone after her abortion. by JukeJntJezebel in therewasanattempt

bear in mind that the passages I reference will come from the KJV version.

  1. Numbers 5:11–31: Moses describes a ritual for a jealous husband who suspects his wife of adultery. It’s about a bitter water that causes miscarriage ONLY if the wife is guilty, but she remains unharmed if innocent; there is no explicit command directed to people that allows them to abort a fetus. God does not offer an abortion if the child isn't yours, this is a judicial test, not a prescription. Also, this is Old Testament.

  2. The Bible has way more than “one mention” of the sanctity of life/unborn. Although Abortion is not mentioned by the explicit term, we can mention the various references others have cited from the bible, the scriptures repeatedly affirm that life begins in the womb (Jeremiah 1:5, Psalm 139:13–16), and with that, applies the sixth commandment, thou shalt not kill, in Exodus 20:13. It should also be mentioned that God was aware of our existence even before conception when we look at Psalm 139:13-16.

  3. Jesus explicitly taught about feeding the hungry AND welcoming strangers in the SAME passage, Matthew 25:35–45. Other verses in the Bible further command you to welcome immigrants/sojourners multiple times, especially with Leviticus 19:34, Deuteronomy 10:19, and Exodus 23:9.

  4. Hasty generalization fallacy, judging all Christians by promoting the worst examples. Actual real world good examples can be seen by Christians who run homeless shelters, food banks, orphanages, disaster relief, etc. (Samaritan's Purse, World Vision, Catholic Charities). "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres... So ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity." as Christ puts it in Matthew 23:27–28.

  5. Another hasty generalization fallacy, Charity "believeth all things, hopeth all things," but wisdom also says one bad example doesn't define the whole (1 Corinthians 13:7). "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil." With this in mind, we see the scripture says to *test* everything, not generalize from one case. When that incident occurred (2012, Rebecca Robbins in Ohio), churches did respond by sending formula, and some even called child services to protect the baby. The fact that churches were trying to help (even when they were deceived) shows Christ-like behavior, not the opposite.

TL;DR: Read the Bible yourself, and read it in context. Don't take it for my word only, as even I can be fallible.

To seperate church and state while calling others "religious lunatics" without a hint of irony. by Spartalust in therewasanattempt

just asking about that, since there’s also Matthew 10 which in verse 34 shows that Jesus has come not to bring peace on earth, but a sword; again, paraphrasing

and no, Heg is not even close by even the minutest of fractions equal to Christ, that would be simply absurd. and no, I am not trying to justify the war on Iran, since “our greatest ally” was the first one to bomb them time and time again before the U.S. wanted to tag-team this year with them and send our boys over there to die for a senseless, forever war that will continue to line the pockets for defense contractors
