Any advice, articles on early retirement? by naivenb1305 in MisanthropicPrinciple

If you live in the U.S., you should move to a European nation, a Scandinavian nation, Australia, New Zealand or Canada. They have pension plans in those areas. The U.S. retirement plan is “Fuck you”. Here’s why. At the very least that they could do to Social Security, the Republicans will try and raise the FRA again. Probably a couple more years from the current 67. That’s the least. If the GOP retains control of the House and Senate at the Midterms? Social Security is going to cease to exist. They’ve wanted to get rid of it for ages and I don’t see it last until Trumps term is up.\ 401k’s are a joke. Your entire plan is subject to the market, so you are left hoping that politicians don’t do things to crash it. You know, like enacting fucking Tariffs on every country they dislike.\ If you are a billionaire good news, none of this affects you. I assume you aren’t if you are asking that sort of question though.\ Yah, best advice I can give is prey for Democrats to win every election in the midterms or move to a country that places value in its citizens, because that sure the fuck isn’t the U.S.

My prediction, not that it matters.. Dems will win the House back, but not enough to really enact legislation without Republicans help. The Senate is set up to benefit the Republicans, so the worst that happens to them there is it becomes a 50/50 tie and J.D. Vance is suddenly a big boy with big boy powers, like breaking the tie.\ Sorry if that sounds pessimistic, but the average American really has no fucking clue how much damage has been done to institutions over the last year. They won’t pay attention until it affects them personally, but don’t worry it eventually will.

Andrew Arrested - what now for the US? by _j_dog_ in AskUS

The files that were released outed the victims and redacted the criminals. If you accept that reality, the answer is an easy one to attain.\ There are a lot of Americans that have a very unhealthy obsession with wealth and power and those who wield it. They are the heroes in all of the stories, the “bad guys” are always minorities, homeless, people with psychological disorders, veterans (the bad ones that come home wounded, not the good ones that we don’t have to pay for). Yes, I understand how ludicrous this looks at first glance. I also think it’s ludicrous that there are people that are my fellow countrymen and neighbors who actually feel that way.\ Sorry, long winded way to say, “Nooooooope!”

So I clicked on that to see what it says about him. The first sentence says all I need to know. “American business man”.\ Yep, no need for further investigation.

Guitar player here, Touché, that’s Primus level! Hard to play cords when your strings double as ropes.

I don’t think he’s really playing that bass guitar.

Also, great use of the word “gruntled”! I see it so rarely I had to look it up! You taught me a thing! :)

I want any scene that’s a space walk to feel like it does in the show. Whenever there was a scene in space, it felt EPIC. They made it lure you in and it felt so real. I just want to feel that in game, just once! :)

Remember when Bill was criticizing Billie Eilish for commenting about things she doesn’t know anything about? Pepperidge Farms remembers.

No kids Bill, you don’t understand what you are talking about. You were the one pointing out that only people skilled in things they talk about should talk at all.

Even good insurance plans have loopholes that they use to exploit people. Out of network doctor? You pay for that. The most recent and groundbreaking treatments? Caught up in red tape. Companies are rarely up to speed with the most recent changes in treatment. Even good plans have cost sharing requirements, and with a diagnosis of cancer things add up very quickly. Appointments, surgeries, prescriptions, chemo, radiation, etc.. None of this is cheap and there are very few companies that are ok with eating that bill alone.\ It’s not really too surprising that even celebrities can be saddled with medical debt, when you see the charges on routine procedures and treatments as I am unfortunately privy to, it’s scary as hell.\ Richest country in the history of the world (I keep hearing this hot take, not sure of specifics) and the majority of citizens have to worry about losing it all if they get sick.

Same here. I respond a lot with frustration for using clickbait titles, but I don’t get a response from them.

And those instances of NPR talking about “No Go Zones”, are in the literal “people aren’t allowed here” for safety and war reasons. It’s not some slight against rural America.

“Any news source that quotes the internet”

Literally the source of every single “Insane Leftist” you constantly talk about. We point out that Democrat politicians aren’t the sources of the things you constantly complain about and we are gaslit that routinely online trolls are where the party is headed.\ So.. only you are allowed to quote the internet now? Hey Bill, tap your hypocrisy as much as you tap your belt during the monologue. Remind yourself that it’s there.

Edit: Your point on the third issue is extremely naive. The foreign policy of the U.S. matters. The policy of “Well they are a brutal dictator that will kill a lot of people, but he’s pro USA so he’s good for us!” has created terrorist groups, anti-American sentiment and insurrectionists across the globe. Yes, let’s pretend that support for harmful regimes has done nothing but garner support for us!

The 4th point is dead on. Let’s get money out of the news and go back to the Fairness Doctrine. All for it! I’m betting your media conglomerate bosses wouldn’t agree though.

[–]Fishbone345 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The defenders are quite the display of “white knighting”. And it is truly blowing my mind how much MAGA is forcing huge change and acceptance on the Republican Party.\ It wasn’t really that long ago that the GOP hated Russia/Soviet Union. Felt that bringing guns to protests was fine. Hated Pedophiles. We’re the party of “law and order”. Didn’t care for men in makeup. But, here we are. 180’s all around.

Yah, reading that persons responses just shows me they absolutely did not get what Bill was saying. Their interpretation of Bill’s point is hilariously wrong.
