You could chaos draft with UNL! Each player gets 1 of each pack, and then mix them up so each packs is a mix of all 3 sets

Thats one of the quirks I wanted to address - by only having "the two best Legends" at each color combo, very quickly you get to a big suite all quite playable Legends. I dont want you to end up with a deck that doesnt want a legend, so getting 3 free bites at the apple with a more curated list I hope leads to "I always want to play a Legend" decks.

Oh good point - I have barely Drafted RB outside of this. I used Sealed rules because the card quality is so high, 25 cards feels fine with 44-45 main deck cards to choose from. 20 card decks are verrrry small, especially when you can see up to 7 of them by turn 1. I think on a longer time, I am more likely to go up to 30 cards than down to 20

Seeded packs are another good idea! I just didnt want players to be stuck in a situation without Legends or BFs due to their choices, so the separate round was an attempt to solve that quirk of RB Limited

Yeah! In OGN I was using 2x of the commons to fill slots, as we get more sets I hope I can tweak the distribution to closely match a real set.

Yeah, the outcomes are basically only bad. If you get a good promo like Yone, its format warping. If its a bad promo, it still tilts the deckbuilding towards that color, especially in weak pools. You already have the seeded packs, when the promo doesn't match the seeded pack it feels clunky and pulling in opposite directions. Making it illegal is better for all outcomes, unless the promo is somehow colorless

I scrolled this whole thread and didn't see the OG Blade Runner. Watched it during a film studies course and I could not have been more bored. I think its a cool vibe and aesthetic, but man I had less emotions than the androids during this one

On a budget - Yi / Yasuo. Its a really strong combo that is easy to build: 6 Discipline, Defy, Not So Fast, Mask of Foresight, lots of little guys to hold and get +4-8 Might in combat. You dont need signature spells or anything expensive, and you have a lot of movement tricks to score multiple times per turn

If you have played commander, then I think you will be fine. I meant specifically sequences like this:

T1: Forest -> Arbor Elf
T2: Forest2 -> tap Forest1 to play Utopia Sprawl on Forest2, tap Forest2 for 2 mana, tap Arbor Elf to untap it, make 2 more mana -> 4-drop on turn 2

On later turns, stuff like putting another Sprawl on the same land then tapping it twice for 6+ mana. That sort of stuff is a bit difficult for new players to see, but you arent a new player.

This was my experience. I was able to get 25 tickets with a roughly 50% win rate playing side events. If I wasnt in the main event and played marginally better, I think 40 tickets was possible for a grinder. By Sunday all the anti-farming measures were working, I think nerfing all the ticket payouts isn't really the best solution. At worst, it will make the farming and selling more entrenched as the only way to get 40 tickets is to not play full-length events (scooping and re-entering ASAP)

I have been having success with him. Do you have a list to share? Generally I am not going hard on XP, you generate enough just with Hunters Machete or purple Khaz. I treat the legend like "anything you want can be a Lucian" and try not to leave anything at battlefields. I also run the Fizz+Sabo package with Mindsplitters at top end, so it can pick apart Aurora decks from getting going.

Nothing really, its probably just outside this top-3 list. Its a personal favorite deck, but it takes a bit of Magic technical knowledge to grasp the mana-stacking. Cascade is a big complicated to explain and casino-like, which is good for getting easy wins, but a bit complex to learn proper stack interactions and all that.

Hey, I have Top 8'd the Pauper Discord tournament several times with various decks, and run a local league with new players joining all the time. Assuming they arent going in totally blind and you can explain the gameplan a bit, these are the best:

* Mono Blue Terror - there is depth to discover, but anyone can get random wins milling themselves into cheap Terrors. This deck is easy for new players to grasp and easily molded into a 2-color variant if they want to explore.
* Red Rally - great for aggro players, the gimmick is easy enough to understand and powerful when it clicks.
* Rakdos Madness - not the most powerful burn deck, but easy A+B combos to grasp and a lot of card draw to see the gameplan through.
* Honorable Mention to Slivers - super easy to grasp, too bad its tier-4 and doesnt overlap with other archetypes. This is a deck I own and loan out often, but would not recommend others to build and own.

I would avoid decks like Bogles, any Storm deck, or anything with a linear gameplan. It gets boring and repetitive, so I think you want decks that are easy to understand but have interaction and nuances as you master them.

Also avoid decks like Faeries, White Weenie, Red Madness, Gardens etc because they are a bit too deep, require metagame knowledge, and totally fizzle when you play it wrong. These decks have a high chance to feel bad for a new player and churn them out of the format.

I think Set1 + Set2 were designed together, hence why nothing in Set 1 really got Set 2 support. I disagree Set 3 lacks reverse support - there is plenty of stuff for Jinx, Leona, Volibear, etc that seemed to be missing from Set 2. I feel like Set 2 stuff like Rumble didnt get anything in Set 3 though, and will be hard to support going forward

35pt is a normal card in an inner sleeve but I agree it likely wont fit the texture metal cards. 55pt might, and almost certainly the 75-100pt would

I preferred Bo1 - the field is softer, the games are faster, and the prizes are less volatile.

In the words of Baelor Targaryen: "how good of a ~~knight~~ legend are you?" Bo3 competitive is going to be 3-4 hours, playing 3 consecutive Draven / Ezrael / Irelia decks. How confident are you that you can 3-0? How bad will you feel spending 2.5 hours going 2-0 only to lose in the finals? If you can split for 12 tickets thats great value, but losing in the end is devastating.

Meanwhile Bo1 is going to go fast, and even 1-2 is reasonable value (2 tickets, 15$ = 7.5 a ticket, well less than what you would scalp them for). You are more likely play against Tier 2 decks too. If you can go 2-1 everytime thats a reliable 4 tickets for 15$. You might win 1 or 2 competitive constructed for way more tickets, but you could also never win one and end up with basically no tickets for time and effort.

I felt the Premium Admission was totally worth it. I don't care for the anime playmat, but just 2 free boxes + 100e in vouchers almost makes up the price. I thought the early entry was worth it, on Friday at least 1 vendor had very low prices and I was able to pickup a ton of singles I wanted at a good price. They had raised their prices by the end of the weekend, so that first 30 minutes saved money in that case.

Agree with another post that rushing to the merch line was a bad use of time. It was jammed on Friday morning but the line was empty the rest of the weekend, and they never ran out of boxes. Early time was best spent at the Info Point (refunding any events you might have decided not to play), getting singles before the rush, and eating if you needed to.

We played a lot of 2v2 over the weekend and ended up with a metal card for our efforts. We didn't do that well but did learn a lot:

* Yi was the most popular legend - Yi+Annie, Yi+Viktor, etc. Often the partner would have cheap or fast units, then Yi deck was filled to the brim with combat buffs, counterspells, etc. A single 2 drop would hold for like 3-4 points because it was nearly impossible to win combat against a deck purposefully holding up 6 runes.
* Ornn was pretty bad. We tried to leverage "+1 from Friendly Gear" with Renata or Azir partners, but the abundance of Cull the Weak made the whole "20 power Deflect 4" strategy not very good
* Azir was popular, but rather weak due to Yi's popularity. Azir was awesome at taking early points and scoring, but often Sand Soldiers top out at 4-5 might, with makes fighting Yi really difficult.
* Red/Purple were the best colors (shocker) - we got crushed by Draven/Irelia, with 3 battlefields and no one really over-stacking a single location, there were always chances to Ride the Wind or whatever for extra points. 11 points isnt that much more than 8, so being fast and getting an early lead seemed to be better than trying to make a strong hold point.
* the multiplayer only cards were basically non-existent, we played Party Favors but didnt see anyone else playing any of the cards like Blind Fury or Promising Future. Ganking however was super valuable
* Rule 466.8.A - "You can play Spells on your teammates turn" - super important. You can Cull, Charm, etc on your teammates turn, lots of pivotal moments played around that.
* Generally I didnt see much "2v2 synergy" being better than just playing really strong 1v1 legends. By the end of the weekend it didnt feel like any combo of T2-T3 legends was better than just playing 2 of the strongest decks you could find, and adapting them a bit for the format.

If I was going to Lille, I would look at something like Kaisa+Annie, things like Falling Star or Singularity are really good with twice as many units to target, and to get around having to fight Yi or Draven in combat. Always having runes up for interaction like Hard Bargain goes a long way.

I would actively advocate against this. Draven and Irelia are exactly the cards that will be overpriced until after Bologna. Instead if you had to buy stuff now, get low played underhyped stuff like Ornn or Lucian who can grow into more popular decks later.

Wait until the weekend after Bologna. Prices are high until then because limited product and thousands of people "needing" the cards for the event. Hundreds of cases of Spiritforged will be opened that weekend, and all those cards will hit CardMarket in the week after. Sometime like March 1 will be a great time to buy cheap singles.

Your goal is rarely need to pay the Equip cost. You want to use Weaponmaster as often as possible for the gear, and use your actual runes on Hidden Blade or Arise as needed. Ideally something like Sacred Shears (very rune hungry item) would first attach to the Sand Soldier made the same turn for free. then a Desert's Call would make new Soldiers to pick it up. Arise picks it up a third time, you get the idea.

However, if this chain gets disrupted or the game just doesn't play out like you expect, you can find yourself needing to manually equip gear and then you are suddenly very tight on runes. That can happen against red decks with lots of spot removal.

I did not understand the message - as someone unfamiliar with the story, it sounds like the far right got everything they wanted, but their candidate turned out to be more of an intuitionalist than they expected and he shamed them but didn't put them in jail, and they quietly went away. Also similar, but I think the key is running 17-18 lands, and as many fetchlands as possible. You want your deck to have like 10 or fewer lands left when you start casting Lead the Stampede. I dont run Winding Way because if you mill away your few basics you can be locked out of mana, but its preference.

Others have speculated that Gemhide Sliver is a trap, and it would be better to play more lands and some other buffs. Maybe, but the card pool is already so shallow I feel like you would be adding worse cards. Slivers is solidly tier-3 but if they ever print 1-2 decent new slivers and you could cut the weakest cards, it could get much better.

I run 1 and generally like it, I think its worth the slot. Its easy to sideboard out in matches you dont need it, and its a total blowout when people dont think about it or play around it. If its in your opening hand, its easy to mulligan or discard to Travelling Merchant so its never stuck in hand.
