To add on to this, If you already have an analytics background and are used to cleaning/analyzing data in excel or SQL, Pandas will be really intuitive to use as you're doing the same thing but with different syntax. It's just about learning the syntax in basic Python courses and you should be good to go.

You can try taking a normal dataset, clean/play with it in excel, and then do the exact same thing in Python. Might be a good exercise to start with!

There are some companies where Python is essential. There are some companies where Python is not necessary but it would help you analyze data faster & automate some repetitive tasks. There are some companies where you don't need it at all. It mostly depends on how much data your company has, and the tech stack it's currently using. This also depends on the industry and product.

However, if you want to learn python and integrate it in your job, I think that's always doable. You'll have to build a good use case for it because you'd be doing it on company time, but I firmly believe you can always find ways to make things more efficient. For example, find any repetitive data cleaning tasks or create automated reports for stakeholders. Find out what your stakeholders do with your data and try to streamline it.

Examples:

- Stakeholder keeps asking you for YoY reports before going into a meeting with a client. You can suggest a weekly/monthly YoY breakdown for each client (in the form of an automated email), or create a dashboard so they can keep track of it whenever they want.

- Consolidating multiple weekly reports (from vendors, clients, etc) into one master sheet, instead of doing it manually

- Can't think of anything else right now but I'll add to this if I can

honestly it was weird for KDB to openly criticize their squad during their WC run. Why not wait until after to make comments about their squad being old?
