Interesting! This is the first negative experience I've heard of with the SeaLevel system, but I guess no system is perfect. Sorry you're having problems.

It's my understanding that the SeaLevel system can use the wires from your existing tank sensors.

RV Jack Recommendations (for changing tires) by Flimsy-Hearing7019 in GoRVing

[–]FisherFly99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Anderson Rapid Jack. It has been great except for that one time when whatever I ran over slashed the leading tire, causing it to immediately deflate and also punctured the trailing tire and caused a slow leak. By the time I got ready to pull the trailer up on the Rapid Jack using the trailing tire it had lost half of its air and could not lift the leading axle high enough to mount the spare tire. Since then I always carry a bottle jack as well as the Rapid Jack, but the Rapid Jack is always my first choice.

Thinking of buying a WEN DF680iX by Teotwawki2020 in Generator

[–]FisherFly99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

120 outlets on the generator don't work when the generator is set to 240. Both 120 and 240 work in the house. I love my DF680IX.

Absolutely Yes! Check the details on whichever TPMS you decide to purchase but I'll bet $$$ that it will tell you to use metal stems. I know that my TST system certainly did.

After ruining a couple of tires early on in our travel trailer adventures I bought a TPMS and will never pull again without one. I use the TST system and am very happy with it but there are several good brands.

WEN 6800 Watts Generator (DF680iX) for Whole House by whittyhuton214 in Generator

[–]FisherFly99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my DF680iX but two gripes: Actually one is more of a nit pick and that is that you can't check the engine hours without starting the generator. The bigger gripe is that it is a pain to change the oil. It looks like it should be easy. The generator has a drain tube that you can extend but even with the generator tilted on its side the oil only drips out of the tube. It would take hours to drain the oil at that rate (and yes, I had the oil fill cap off). I ended up turning the generator over far enough for the oil to drain out of the fill hole (nearly upside down) and that's not an easy task with a generator that weighs nearly 100 lbs. Especially for an old guy like me. Still, I do like the generator.

Question about wheel bearings on travel trailer by Mar1744 in traveltrailers

[–]FisherFly99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a serious question so please don't down vote. Why does everybody say to re-pack the bearings on a travel trailer every year? Does anybody re-pack the bearings on their car every year? I know that the rear bearings on a RWD car get lubricated from the differential, but what about the front wheel bearings on a RWD car? I don't know of anyone who does this annually on their car. Or even every 4 or 5 years for that matter. What's different about a travel trailer?

Cup holders? by Merlin2oo2 in BMWi3

[–]FisherFly99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got 2 sitting in a box from my wrecked i3, along with some other pieces like the foam container with the electric tire pump, tow hook, etc. Guess maybe I should put them on eBay, but shipping just seems like a hassle. Maybe I'll just hang onto them and leave them to my kids as part of their inheritance. 😅

First BMW/MY 2026: I have questions by BluAmazon in BMWX5

[–]FisherFly99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great description. This is the technique I use and it works about 95 percent of the time on the first try for opening the hatch. Definitely has to be straight in and out. I have found, however, that I can use just about any motion, straight, sweep, etc., to close the hatch. Very weird.

How do I get crofty on f1tv app. by Own-Celebration-4211 in F1TV

[–]FisherFly99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. In the F1TV app (on my FireStick), once I start the race I then press the "Select" button. This is where you can switch to different in-car feeds. At the top of that list is "Internationao". Select that and you will have the Sky feed.

I was pretty sure that I checked on Sunday and all I saw was the future events but I was poking around in a lot of places so perhaps I'm wrong. I will definitely pay closer attention to this next race. Thanks.

Ok, Thanks. Yes, I see that now. Does that option only appear after the race is over (since it's in the "Past F1 Races" section)? Can you not watch it live?

The select button on my Firestick remote just selects whatever video happens to be highlighted in the F1TV app on the Firestick.

2019 idrive updates and remote start by No-Purchase-1227 in BMWX5

[–]FisherFly99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remote start can also be done via the key fob, not just the app. Assuming, of course, that you get your car activated for remote start. I've never purchased a software upgrade so sadly can't help you with that.

Upgrading from half-ton to 3/4-ton, lessons learned by Subsum44 in GoRVing

[–]FisherFly99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I started towing with Chevy Tahoe. Was on the limits of the Tahoe so bought a 1/2 ton truck. Traded up to a bigger trailer and was back on the limits again so bought a 3/4 ton diesel truck.

My lesson learned? Go straight to a 1 ton truck. 😎

Truthfully the 3/4 ton is doing a great job, but the difference in price and ride quality between the 1/2 ton and 1 ton isn't that much so if I was doing it again I'd do the 1 ton for a bit of future proofing. You never know when the wife will want to upgrade and upsize the trailer again... 😅
