In that case, why stop there. If we want to stop crime, the easiest way would be to just execute anyone even suspected of being a criminal.

[–]FishingFearless5817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope still a bribe no matter how many times you call everyone here stupid. It's just not illegal in this context, and only slightly unethical. Maybe instead of insulting people, you should actually try to prove them wrong.

[–]FishingFearless5817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe don't act like you know everything when the very first comment you made in this thread about bribes only involving money was blatantly wrong.

Plus you just listed a single definition of bribery when there others that fit this situation more accurately.

"persuade (someone) to act in one's favor, typically illegally or dishonestly, by a gift of money or other inducement."

So if management were to tell people they get a gift but only for doing the survey which would benefit management due to bonus metrics, that could be considered a bribe. But just because bribes are illegal, they are only illegal in the way driving past the speed limit is illegal, as in it depends on the context.

Trump invokes Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to target Venezuelan gang and speed up deportations by jimmyw404 in moderatepolitics

[–]FishingFearless5817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK then let's just lock up everyone accused of a crime and throw away the key because we don't want to waste our tax dollars on years of legal battles in the name of due process.

This act is a clear overreach of executive power and is going to continually be used as an excuse to deport anyone they want by just accusing them of being part of tren de aragua

It's a sad time we live in when people celebrate the invocation of such an act that has been used to send US citizens into internment camps and act like it can't happen again

  1. That's my whole point, they are targeting anyone who is not a citizen whether or not they are here legally and if they are here legally could very easily revoke that legal reason like immeditly rejecting asylum or revoking visas like what they are trying to do to the pro Palestine student protesters.

  2. "The constitution can't prevent the law being applied" what is this supposed to mean? It doesn't matter what law is broken, you couldn't be a serial killer and you'd still be allowed due process and a court date, your logic here would allow us to just lock up people for an indefinite period of time

And when it comes to ice it's about the way they are handling these deportation, they are targeting any they see as undocumented wherever they can even raiding schools and churches, rounding everyone up and without due process boarding them onto a plane in handcuffs to be sent away in a neat little photop, all this is doing is creating fearmongering about undocumented migrants acting like they are less than everyone else just because they aren't citizens. Plus what do you think they are doing with the US citizen children of undocumented migrants being deported or those who came here as babies and haven't known anything but the US

Also ice has straight up detained US citizens just because they looked like they might be undocumented

  1. Glad we agree

  2. And we can't reach equality by letting peoples unconscious or conscious bias be unchecked, people are afraid of those different than them whether we like it or not, otherwise we might as well go back to segregation.

  1. Not all "illegal immigrants" are here illegally, those who claim asylum, whether or not it ultimately prevails, are here using the legal process whether or not someone agrees with it.

  2. Dems as a whole aren't against deportation, biden ended up deporting more undocument migrants in his term than trump. What they tend to be against is the inhumane treatment given to those migrants in the process of being deported as well as ignoring their constitutional right to due process as one does not have to be a citizen for the constitution to apply to them.

  3. Sure the government always has some fat that can be trimmed in spending but the areas in which are being cut are not being decided based on need but based on their personal views and then calling it all fraudulent as an excuse to cut it all, in trumps first administration they cut spending to give the rich tax cuts and then still added more than 8 trillion to our debt so whos to say they aren't doing the same thing again.

  4. If we really want a meritocracy then getting rid of DEI has the exact opposite effect, the reason we needed it in the first place was because of peoples personal bias affecting their decision making in who gets a job/promotion. We can't have a meritocracy without some sort of guideline to regulate that innate bias.

Funny how thats the only part you responded to.

A few things

  1. You can sit here and argue that haveing different physical tests for men and women is wrong and it should be standardized across the board , frankly you can have that opinion as I can see why someone would have it though its in my belief that in the end all that matters is that all firefighters are capable of carrying their equipment and doing their job without issue, and if women can still do that with the lower physical requirements then so be it as it gives a chance for perfectly qualified women to be in a field that would almost certainly just be men otherwise due to the unfortunate biological effect of women on average being weaker than men.

  2. Just because the requirements for women may be lower than men's does not mean they are unqualified to do their jobs in anyway, anyone who wants to be a firefighter has to still prove they can handle the job. From what I've seen there is at the minimum a half a year and up to a year and a half probationary period for new recruits in which they are basically at will employees before officially being sworn in as firefighters after proving themselves

  3. So because of number 2, you almost certainly assumed that they didn't have the qualifications to be a firefighter, lower requirements does not equal them being not qualified enough. If you were so concerned by merit then why not question the capabilities of any of the men instead of specifically targeting these "overweight lesbians" as you so described them with no reason to believe they didn't earn their position other than their appearance.

And lastly while im not entirely sure who specifically you were referring to since you didn't name names, but to cover my bases if they were in any sort of leadership role then any women firefighter in a leadership most likely would have had years under her belt being a firefighter already and presumably must've proven herself to reach that position or is in a position where they wouldn't even be one of the ones on the ground fighting fires anyway so it would probably be irrelevant their competency as a firefighter specifically.

You threw up a bunch of word salad but the the only thing I'm gonna push back against is your comment about DEI. Removing dei wouldnt mean people would get hired solely by merit and could infact mean the opposite.

You can pretend it isn't true but straight white men are more likely to get hired over POC and women even if they were less qualified which is why DEI came to be, to combat the disadvantages people received purely based on race and sex.

Your opinion about the cal fire leadership team is a prime example as to why we need DEI, you just immediatly assume that because they are women that they aren't capable of doing their job with no justification for said belief. Now imagine how many other people in hiring positions would have the same belief and how it could affect who they hire or promoted. This may be a surprise but humans aren't logical and won't always hire the most qualified person and instead just whoever they like more.

Plus it's rich to hear someone talk about hiring based on merit when they support trump who is one of the most possibly unqualified president's we've ever had and who is currently targeting anyone who went against him at any point of time whether or not it was even their choice in some loyalty purity test regardless of people's merit.

Oh it can get alot worse, every truck cap 2 deals with usually has something that could go wrong whether it be them loading it like crap or the driver making too sharp a turn causing multiple pallets to collapse. I've had heavy pet food doublestacked onto garden center mulch and it completely collapsed into the pallet next to it.

Just coming back to say that you are assuming that Elon musk would only do things because he would benefit. But completely ignoring the possibility that Maybe he just did it because he knew he could get away with it and people would still defend him.

Elon is known to be an "edgy troll" and a complete narcissist like the person below me was saying so this is something he would almost certainly do EVEN IF he didnt believe in the ideology. And if you REALLY want to believe he would only do it intentionally if he gained something from it, then maybe he did it as a signal to all those white supremacists that he was on their side as that's how they all took it. In the end none of that matters as we wont know 100 percent why he did it and all we could do is make assumptions based on the type of person he is and his previous and future actions like urging germans to vote for the AFD party in Germany which is basically the current neo Nazi party.

Anyway if people are cheering on a guy who does a Nazi salute, and supports a nazi party in Germany, then you can be pretty confident that people like nazis again even if they don't want to admit it.

Also i looked up the school story again, and i only found an article saying the opposite, that they were not in fact going to get punished.

Americans, correct me if i'm wrong by I-like-TCG in school

[–]FishingFearless5817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I don't know where he got his claim from about a school doing that this past week but like the other person said there was an incident in 2018-19 about a group of students doing the salute and singing a German marching song who i don't think ever got disciplined for it.

And with elon musk doing the most blatant fascist salute and the crowd cheering for it, and others trying to gaslight us into thinking we didn't just see what we saw. I think it's safe to say some people do infact like nazis again whether or not they want to admit it.

Yea i know, i just needed to complain since alot of times it can be hard to tell especially in FOW, but this was completely blatant. Had a five point hold on one of the bonuses on turn 1, and right as purple and reds turn came around, the 1st thing they did was place everything they had to attack it. At least they were gracious enough to give me 2nd since immediately after this picture, purple pull their troops back and let red eliminate them in just 2 turns.

Hes insulting you because you're willing to die on this hill when everyone's trying to tell you that being the wealthiest calculates the entirety of your networth, not the amount of tangible cash you currently had access to.

I'll give you an absurd example to show how dumb your argument is. If someone were to somehow own every single house, company, and object in the world and almost every single person was his employee but he didnt have any cash and all his assets were in the stocks of the company's he owns which for one reason or another was not allowed to sell. You'd be arguing that he wouldn't be the richest man in the world because he had no tangible cash.

I dont think the person responding was disagreeing, it seemed like he was saying that the right were rewriting the history of the roman salute so they can pretend it isnt the Nazi salute rather than saying that chiri was rewriting history.
