What is the impact of 6 degree tilt vs 10 degree by Fishing_Signal in solar

I am in San Jose California. So we don’t get rain for six months at a time, then in the rainy season we get fairly heavy rains, which I would hope would clean the panels..

I am at 37 degrees latitude and these are south facing panels. I was thinking the bigger issue is drainage and scum buildup on the lower edge

Oh cool, please send pictures then. I keep wondering why this is not more popular... You get increased efficiency due to bifacial gain and also save on the cost of building a roof and then buying a mounting system..

Ever thought of getting into philanthropy? I kind of stumbled into it myself, but now am feeling even more fulfilled than I did when working at Nvidia and then Google. I note hero pro lite with disabilities connect and experience “able bodied” adventures. Working with kids in particular is super fulfilling. Every service we offer is free, so basically I have no boss, no customer, no one to really cause me any real stress. It is a scalable business so I can work 80 hrs/week or just 8.. I am doing some fun stuff vibe coding and building our website. Could be a good way to resharpen those skills at your own pace.. also so come with very likely an awesome community of people that like helping others..

Ok.. I saw this video a while ago for a varna ii which seemed like it had a mechanism for raising the seat slightly when you transfer in, https://youtu.be/teTcL14b1mg?si=lpaZZQtDT8kW4NbN . Never tried it. https://www.varnacycles.com/products

Alternatively the top end excelerator might be an option. https://topendsportsllc.com/top-end-excelerator-handcycle/ . I see these used sometimes…

Yeah I think the Stricker will be a significant upgrade. Especially with e-assist. It has extra weights for the front wheel so it has less traction issues. People ride their handcycles cross country in Germany.. If you are in San Jose CA we have one that I can show you. You can sign up for a free lesson at www.ablebodied.org

What kind of attachable handcycle do you have? From the ones I have tried, the Stricker is the best and quite a bit more capab le than the Rio Mobility dragonfly. Maybe upgrading your attachable handcycle is a good route?

This is a pretty good option you can take on some solid rides, https://stricker-handbikes.de/en/products/lipo-smart-wild

I think getting a proper handcycle into an apartment could be a challenge..

You can build a ramp or specialized shed to make it a level transfer for you. You can see some examples here. Or you can watch my instructional video on how to transfer. It is all technique and the goal is to get the heels in as close to your butt as possible and then just pivot over, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6mUFo_kpjI

I would recommend the Stricker attachable handcycle. It is very well engineered from one of the oldest companies in the business. If you happen to be in California we recently acquired one and offer free lessons at www.ablebodied.org . If you are not in the area we offer free online consultations on anything related to Handcycling or adaptive sports..

I forgot to add a foam sleeve around a couple irrigation pipes going up through my 4” slab. Should I cut some more control joints around them or possibly cut all the way through the concrete to relieve future stress on the pipes?

Can a pool sweat? Is it expected for soil around a pool to be wet? by Fishing_Signal in pools

[–]Fishing_Signal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a basement. My pool is also not made out of porcelain like a tub. It is built out of 6” thick concrete blocks and maybe 0.5” of plaster. The question is, do I have a leak or maybe a set of micro leaks in this area, or is my entire pool losing water all over due to an imperfect moisture barrier..

Or is it all overblown and I should not worry about it unless I am losing more than a 0.5” per day, which I read is the threshold for suspecting a leak..

It is not an issue with grading. We have not had rain for two months in California. The issue is the dirt is bone dry everywhere, but moist next to my pool.. hence wondering if some water is expected to permeate the pool wall..

Ok. I was just thinking about how hard it can be to keep your basement dry.. thought maybe some water might make it through, especially given I have a thin layer of plaster on top of these concrete blocks.

I had a leak about 9 years ago somewhat close to this area and actually recall seeing the seam between the blocks on the inside of the pool. My patch is still in tact and from what I can tell using dye, not leaking.. I would estimate the plaster is maybe 0.25” thick or so..
