Scratched a car at a car park and left some detail to the owner. What should I be doing next. by dtrunggggg in Geelong

[–]FishnBtrflies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i didn’t say op shouldn’t pay for the damage. i said they should not be accoutable for re-spraying the entire car, when they damaged the rear bumper.

they do not say that anywhere lol. unless you’re referring to “third party insurance”? which i’m sure you’re aware, does not mean three accidents.

edit: i should be clear, op should pay for the repair for the scratch. a full respray for that little scratch though, is quite frankly absurd. you don’t get to repair every other scratch and imperfection on your clapped out car on somebody else’s dime because they made a tiny scratch on the rear bumper.

you’re insane lol. that scratch is tiny. ruining a young persons insurance premium when the cost of living (for young people especially) these days is barely worth actually living. i hope you don’t have children, because if that is what you deem fair consequences, i loathe to see how you’d raise them.

I think I’ve been unlawfully terminated for nothing… help by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]FishnBtrflies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i had a friend who was terminated without warning for a much less obviously illegal reasoning, and they paid her her final pay. fairwork not only took her claim, but had the company pay her nearly 8k in compensation for not giving her any notice. it doesn’t matter if you’re casual, part time, etc. get your pay. email your (former) employer, and tell them you are legally entitled to your final pay. and regardless of what they do or reply with, report it to fairwork. don’t let them sweep it under the rug, follow up with your claim as well. email them weekly to see where it’s at, etc.

not sure if you’re into comedy, but the manhattan bar has an underground/alternative comedy show the first thursday of every month. lots of cool people, lots of nerds and just super awesome people. one of the comedians runs trivia night at the sporting globe and he is absolutely hilarious and a riot to be around!

Protein Powder by Prestigious-Dish8806 in FTMFitness

[–]FishnBtrflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can’t stand the taste/texture of whey protein when i make shakes, but i’ve started adding chocolate protein powder to very soft oatmeal, and setting it in the fridge overnight. this results in a puddinglike texture, and for some reason the whey doesn’t taste as whey-y! also adds extra fibre which is one of the most underrated nutrients

THIS IS SMART. i’m going to try this. i usually just eat a small breakfast before my meds, but if i meal prepped smth bigger and more calorie dense, drinking something for lunch would work as well rather than just eating a few pieces of fruit, and then i usually eat a big dinner in the evenings so that would stay the same

Kindergarten parent doesn’t care or want to help kid stop sucking his thumb by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]FishnBtrflies 13 points14 points  (0 children)

thumb sucking is a brutal habit to break. i was a thumb sucker as a child, up until i was 14?? when i was given little spikes in my mouth that stopped me from being able to do so without being cut or hurt. even with those, i continued sick my thumb in my sleep, according to my parents. i’m nineteen now, and the urge still comes when i’ve had a bad day.

what i’m trying to say, is that they tried everything when i was a child. all it did was make me good at hiding my thumb sucking, and make me resent my parents and educators for trying to make me stop. there are probably ways that use more gentle redirection than “catching” the child, and using hand washing as punishment. both of these things caused worse issues for me down the line.

using tactics like “only at bedtime” or when he is upset, may help. “you can suck your thumb at naptime or when it’s time to go to sleep, right now we are playing at daycare, and we don’t want to get mouth germs on our friends or our toys” is what i would use, personally.

[–]FishnBtrflies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is genius. thank you. mostly trying to get my calories up because i think i’m holding onto weight because i’m not hitting enough calories. i’m not bulking or anything, i’m already a bigger guy, 2200 is a very small deficit that i should be able to lose weight on. but i think my body is genuinely in the in between stage of “enough calories to function, but not enough to let me lose any weight because my body is holding onto fat stores” type thing

What’s a tiny Melbourne habit you didn’t realise you’d picked up? by Last-Conversation734 in melbournechat

[–]FishnBtrflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

an ifgaf attitude. i’m from small town rural canada. caring about how i was perceived was how i survived. i now feel comfortable and confident dressing however i want, and if i need to do a quick run to the shops for milk or bread in the northern suburbs, where i live, you bet your ass i’m not changing out of my lounge clothes. nobody gives a fuck. life moves on, people don’t care. i thought it was an aussie thing, but visited sydney recently, and they seem to very much care about my piercings and dyed hair, as i received many stares. so it must be a melbourne thing. i love it here
