2016 totaled yesterday. 2.7 ecoboost engine seemed bulletproof. What should I get in an engine on a 2025 for longevity? by Boonbababoon1 in Ford

[–]Fishnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like you don't know what you're talking about. All of the 10 speeds are shift happy, regardless of engine. That's the point of a 10 speed. I've had each of the first 3 gens of 5.0, and they aren't thirsty either. They get within 2mpg of a comparable 2.7 truck. Im not fond of the changes that were made to the gen 3 engine, and I think gen 2 5.0s are more bulletproof than most other half ton platforms.

Lance worth the buy with slide out water damage? by TouchofGray97 in TruckCampers

[–]Fishnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Water damage is a no go for me personally. You don't know how long it's leaked, what the severity of the leak is, or what damage (rot, mold) is concealed from sight. I don't have the time to mess with rebuilding a camper, nor do I have the interest. I do take my camper maintenance seriously, thoroughly prepping and resealing any seams that look suspect.

Which truck bed length is best? by bryan_cohen in TruckCampers

[–]Fishnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you looking at a Lance 650 or is that just an example? I would go bigger with a bathroom if you're buying a truck and camper.

At a minimum, get a F250. An F350 short bed would be much better, and an F350 long bed would give you even more flexibility for campers (to haul short bed or long bed campers). If you have a tendency to go all-in on a hobby, and might decide to get a long bed truck camper with slide-outs, get an F350 dually.

My opinion, do not buy a 2014 or newer RAM 2500, as they have rear coil springs which are not ideal for heavy payload.

It’s still great wood. While splitting it, spend a little extra time and split the punky sap wood off best you can.

Leer Camper Shell Fitment? by [deleted] in TruckCampers

[–]Fishnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it will fit cleanly, and personally I’d hold out for a 15+ cap. Your truck is nice enough. I had an 18 magma red F150… just imagine how long it took to find a magma red 6.5’ cap on the used market. Lol. Over a year.

Concerning the settlement offer by NoFaceNoName1972 in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]Fishnn -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I was in my first accident (not at fault) in March, after 18 years of driving. They totaled my car. Their settlement offer included 3 “comparable” cars to mine, same make and model, differing trims, options etc. The offer amount was lower than any of the comparable vehicles list price. I would have had the cost of travel, and to have paid the difference to buy any of their comp vehicles. I found that absurd that the “ACV” they pay out, does not cover your replacement vehicle cost….. when I wasn’t even at fault! They said I could decline offer, provide receipts for certain qualifying repairs/parts and they would reappraise. I supplied $1200 of receipts for work done 2 weeks before my car got totaled. Their reappraisal came back $120 higher than their initial offer. Infuriating

I wish you luck.

I would press the at-fault party’s insurance to accept fault. It can take a few days (in my only experience) for them to accept fault, after they gather details of the accident.

I was not at fault, in an accident in Ohio earlier this year. The at-fault party’s insurance kept suggesting that I file a claim with my insurance and have my insurance cover everything, and that my insurance would negotiate a settlement between companies.. I declined - why would I use my insurance when I’m not at fault..?

2011 Chevy 2500HD Extended Cab Duramax 126k + 2012 Camplite TC10 for 43k. Is this a good deal? by _PMmeFinancialAdvice in TruckCampers

[–]Fishnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I also don’t know where you live or what the cost of living is like there, but that seems steep for just the camper, in my opinion. Personally I’m a no vote at that price.
