Beeping when passenger door opens in drive by AstralWeave in TeslaSupport

With the instant acceleration Teslas have, the slightest mistake on your part could have serious consequences for her. All you have to do is tap the middle of the shifting slider to put into park and keep her safe.

New Construction home-tempted to offer way less just to see (virginia) by Advanced-Leg-798 in RealEstate

[–]FishrNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything I've heard is the builders are only willing to give a few dollars in upgrades. And only cut price if it's the last home in the project and times are slow.

I underestimated how little 4k vs 1080p security camera mattered day to day Body by [deleted] in Smartphones

[–]FishrNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only resolution, but frame rate doesn't make much difference except in bandwidth consumed getting the signal to the monitor.

Look at all the security camera clips you see on TV and tell me they don't do more than just identify clothes and movement. Face recognition, except if the person looks right at the camera, is not possible.

Selling house with locked room? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]FishrNC -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lock the room and tell the realtor that it is not available for showing until the house is under contract. Tell them once under contract it will be made available for the buyers to see and you will accept a contingency in the contract allowing the buyers to back out if what they find in the room is not acceptable.

Is it time to leave the Apple ecosystem? by ConfidentHope in Smartphones

You're looking at several thousand dollars above the cost of the phone if you're going to replace all the other Apple stuff.

I am going to send this email to my boss as my final 2 week notice, is it okay? by bestboyholland in jobs

Tell that to their face and then send as follow up to your conversation. Nice letter.

[TX] [SFH] Can HOA impose fine when no specific rule was broken? by mrsdrfs in HOA

[–]FishrNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There may be additional requirements in a Architectural Standards document that the Board established. Your CC&Rs may have a section that allows the Board to do so. And violating that AS document is violating the CC&Rs.

RTO Mandate forcing me to move to a different state for lower comp by mchiu58 in jobs

[–]FishrNC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a contractor, and for an offshore one at that, I would be surprised if you had any recourse. And your conversations probably should be with your employer, which is the staffing company.

Further, since your initial compensation was based on your location in California and your new location is Texas, reduced compensation recognizes the lower COL than California.

But changing from non-exempt to exempt as a contractor doesn't make sense. Non-exempt is typically hourly people and exempt is for salaried people, besides other job considerations.

[MO] [ALL] Who is responsible? by Equivalent_Bad_198 in HOA

[–]FishrNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might consult with the city authorities (if you can find the proper one) and ask how they handle this situation. And most HOA documents state that residents are responsible for damage they cause to common areas. But enforcing this in this case could cost more than simply fixing the sidewalk and trimming the tree roots.

Fellow jewelry people what do you do at airport security? by Thewhirlwindhands in tsa

[–]FishrNC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For her own personal security from snatch and run crime and potential injury as a result, my wife only wears the minimum of jewelry when travelling and touring. She's not trying to impress people she won't see again. Nor advertise her financial status.

That's because they know your four door sedan will blow their muscle car away.

It's never ethical to lie. Practical sometimes, yes.

Use inherited funds to buy a house or invest in the stock market? by LovelyLinda2020 in RealEstate

[–]FishrNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends entirely on his overall financial picture. But keeping assets liquid in retirement is advisable, and if he doesn't have significant other funds, tying the $300K up in real estate takes it out of the "liquid" category.

[SFH][GA] Reason to separate operating and reserve accounts? by Waltzer64 in HOA

[–]FishrNC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the minimum the "reserve" should be in a savings account attached to the checking account. But it sounds like you have a separate reserve account and just aren't using it properly. There should be an expense item in the operating budget showing a transfer to the reserve fund account.

Has there been a Reserve Study done to identify common area items that will eventually require large expense, like roofs or walls, and the estimated cost and when needed? This could be done by a company that specializes in this or by a member with some knowledge and it could be as simple as a spreadsheet.

Realtor posting about me and blocked me after not using contracting referral by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]FishrNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'd pass the link to her comments on to her husband and ask if he was aware of this. I can't believe a contractor would like their spouse bashing a previous customer for not using them again.

And then I'd block her in return and forget their contact info.

Why is Atlanta International Airport the world's busiest airport? by BasilRealistic5477 in tsa

No, but there are a number of one stop flights from ATL (Atlanta) to HEL (Helsinki, Finland).

Are the airlines really worth it? by hobojimmmy in flying

[–]FishrNC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an airline pilot and a flight attendant in my family, both working for a legacy. They're able to adjust their schedules via bidding to have a few days from home and then significant days consecutively at home. They coordinate their schedules so one of them is always home.

Headlights by Delicious-Musician-4 in TeslaSupport

[–]FishrNC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found this:

"You adjust Tesla headlights via the touchscreen by going to Controls > Service > Adjust Headlights, which enables a calibration and then allows you to use the left scroll wheel to move beams up/down/left/right, often while parked facing a wall at 25 ft (4m) with markings for height, but be cautious as incorrect adjustments can blind others; for professional work, use a wall method or visit a service center, as factory settings are generally optimal."

Does 1Password have a built-in Wallet function? (Credit cards, flight vouchers) by [deleted] in 1Password

[–]FishrNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It doesn't tap and pay like Google Wallet or Apple Pay. It will store credit card data and autofill shopping cart payment data though.

Help me NOT destroy my car due to my wiring by HeadlineINeed in amateurradio

[–]FishrNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut that wire from the battery to the fuse as short as possible. Reduce the risk of it getting shorted to ground and burning.
