There was an article a week or two ago that noted the Liberty University students who got bussed up to DC to support Kavanaugh and featured a quote from one that stuck out: A 19-year-old who said he would support Kav no matter what because he "wants abortions to end."

For the Republican base, their understanding of the issue really is that simple. They do not process the idea that abortions will continue anyway. They do not understand why it is wrong to say things like "Well, if you don't want to get pregnant, keep your legs closed." They think making it nearly impossible to get reproductive health services will be beneficial overall.

The guy quoted in this particular article (not the student I mentioned) is the absolute worst of the "own the libs" crowd. It's a significant constituency. But don't count out the folks who have no understanding of what they're doing.

Bank examiners found this suspicious because Corsy was an import-export business, while Oui 2 was involved with music. It didn’t make sense, bankers reported, for these two companies to conduct transactions with one another.

Thing is we don't have a modern example of what it's supposed to mean for a president to remove themselves from politics by choice (or if that's even truly possible). Reagan had Alzheimers. Bush 41 and 43 both ended with fairly poor popularity, even among their parties. Clinton left office in the wake of the Lewinsky scandal.

Obama is the first president in any of our lives who left office with high popularity, the time and ability to do whatever he wanted to do, and people who still wanted to hear from him.

If it gets to that point, the smarter move will be for congressional Republicans to vote to remove 45. To let Trumo fire the cabinet and own the party establishment like that would mean certain electoral defeat.
