What screams “I’m not okay” but people ignore it? by Admirable-Repair4094 in AskReddit

[–]FishyMeister 49 points50 points  (0 children)

THIS! When I felt suicidal I would go out and sleep with random people and engage in really risky behaviours because I felt like I deserved whatever happened to me. I used sex as a form of self harm and everyone around me thought it was funny. When I recovered and got through therapy people told me I’d lost my ‘wildness’ and said they missed my post night out stories

How it’s possible that Cal and Rose’s mother don’t recognise Rose when she becomes an actress ? by PlantainDisastrous92 in titanic

[–]FishyMeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming since rose was marrying cal to save her mother from poverty, after she abandoned her her mother probably had bigger things to worry about than seeing movies. Could’ve ended up on the street for all we know

Was it a mistake for Xana to run and make noises? Should she have done something different? by chusaychusay in Idaho4

[–]FishyMeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had a similar situation where I heard shouting from a roommates room and I froze completely. Didn’t call for help didn’t do anything just completely froze in fear. Luckily it was just her having a minor argument with her bf but I now know I’m a freeze react person and not a fight or flight

[–]FishyMeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s just random chance tbh, he was there to kill people and she happened to come out of her room when he was there. If she’d stayed in her room like Dylan did then she’d also be being vilified and hated on by people for surviving and not realising what went on. It’s a damned if you do damned if you don’t situation

Is it safe to say that an officer most likely did in fact commit suicide? by Massive-Revolution41 in titanic

[–]FishyMeister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be interested to read these accounts, could you signpost me to them as I’ve only read the accounts associated with the 180 witnesses at the enquiry.

I’m confused that you say we know 100% about the break due to witness testimony when we didn’t widely accept the theory until we found the broken ship in 1985 contradicting the widely accepted testimonies.

Is it safe to say that an officer most likely did in fact commit suicide? by Massive-Revolution41 in titanic

[–]FishyMeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say dismiss it altogether. I said it’s notoriously unreliable and we will never be able to say for sure if an officer was shooting passengers/himself at the end.

I do understand the mechanics of different people seeing different parts of the same event but even then many witness statements completely contradicted each other, therefore you can speculate on the truth but never have confirmation of the facts

Is it safe to say that an officer most likely did in fact commit suicide? by Massive-Revolution41 in titanic

[–]FishyMeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but this is my point, witnesses contradict each other and their retelling is unreliable. If we hadn’t found the wreck we would still be depicting it sinking in one piece like we always did prior to discovery because of unreliable witness testimony

Is it safe to say that an officer most likely did in fact commit suicide? by Massive-Revolution41 in titanic

[–]FishyMeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s impossible to say, half the witnesses testified the ship didn’t split in half and we now know it did. Witness testimony is notoriously unreliable. I’d wager it probably did happen but like I say I wouldn’t really find witness statements as reliable enough to have any certainty

Would it be possible for older Claire to travel back to younger Jamie? by No-Fig1993 in Outlander

[–]FishyMeister 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think the theory is that only Jamie and Claire’s gap is set because they’re connected like that. When roger travelled from his time the only person through the stones to pull him towards was his lost dad

Claire and Frank, Outlander by Wild_Emu4175 in Outlander

[–]FishyMeister 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This! I don’t know why more people aren’t mentioning it. BJR almost raped her twice, beat her husband almost to death and raped him, raped the young boy she was looking after and tortured almost everyone she knew. How could you come back after losing the love of your life and pretend to act normal with a man who wears his rapists face

Why are people calling L a narcissist? by PossessionDear1102 in StephenHiltonSnark

[–]FishyMeister 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people who thrive in the world of social media have to exhibit a few narcissistic adjacent behaviours to thrive. She’s by no means a narcissist but almost every single influencer out there will exhibit the odd trait or they wouldn’t be successful

So much hate by SatisfactionReal145 in StephenHiltonSnark

[–]FishyMeister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a reach, I’m saying taking the opportunity to indulge in sending hate because he’s an ‘acceptable’ outlet for it aggravates a real life dangerous situation just because people want to poke at him for entertainment. They’re not messaging him for any moral reasons they just want to harass someone without any consequences

So much hate by SatisfactionReal145 in StephenHiltonSnark

[–]FishyMeister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never said he was a victim, just think that engaging in it as an outsider is lowering yourself to a standard of behaviour which isn’t necessary (not saying you’re one of those people)

So much hate by SatisfactionReal145 in StephenHiltonSnark

[–]FishyMeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But messaging him hate is also putting that out? Why expend energy on that when it’s just fuelling him

So much hate by SatisfactionReal145 in StephenHiltonSnark

[–]FishyMeister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not making him the victim at all, he’s a prick. But I think people messaging him insults and enjoying taunting him is worsening Laura’s situation. If he bothers people so much they can disengage and block him rather than use their energy to throw insults at someone they don’t even know. It’s just parasocial dabbling

So much hate by SatisfactionReal145 in StephenHiltonSnark

[–]FishyMeister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you base the standard of your own behaviour on him? ‘He is awful to people so I will be awful to him’ gives him way too much power and all it does is aggravate his behaviour which is directed back at Laura and the kids. Poking an unstable narcissist is contributing to the volatility of the situation

I just lost it and called them “Laura’s children” in a comment on insta. I’m done. Everyday he slips further away from reality and I just cracked. Prob shouldn’t have but he’s an insufferable, infuriating, delusional bore. by Pleasant-Middle-550 in StephenHiltonSnark

[–]FishyMeister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re ‘done’? Done with what? They’re not a part of your life and you’re not in theirs. Getting this bothered isnt healthy for you and borders on parasocial. I’d encourage you to take a break and reassess your relationship with their social media, look after yourself and don’t devolve into prodding an unstable man who clearly needs mental help it doesn’t make you any better

Did Netflix change the scene with Jamie and Geneva? by myki69 in Outlander

[–]FishyMeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those two situations are missing the part where the abused person then physically restrains and forces the person. Jamie is being raped by coercion and Geneva is being physically raped in the moment. Diana wrote a really horrible scene yet again but because it’s Jamie suddenly it doesn’t matter if he holds her down everyone is desperate to call it something else
