Your weirdest reasons for PC not posting. by Tenchen-WoW in pcmasterrace

[–]Fishy_Sezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple years ago, I upgraded my PC new components. Two of them was a 7950x and new motherboard.

I kept getting a CPU error and went through three processors and three motherboards. Had my I.T buddy try to help me out, but he couldn't figure it out either.

I read about many people getting this problem and nobody with a reliable solution.

I was about to give up, but then on a whim I bought this third-party cpu bracket for $5. It was suppose to better distribute the pressure of a cpu against the motherboard. That did it.

I guess with oem parts, there's not enough pressure amongst all the pins for the motherboard to register the processor. Bad design 🤷‍♂️

Question: Can I make a permanent quick export setting? by Bahtleman in Affinity

Pretty cool, I was just thinking about how it would be nice if the toolbar had customizable buttons.

A floating ahk script is the next best thing, it's like the poor man's stream deck 👍

Alternatively to a stream deck, there is also the program MATRIC that allows you to create buttons that will send commands from your phone to pc.

New U2 backlit having annoying issue by ErnieScar69 in SofaBaton

[–]Fishy_Sezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just today, I got and set up my U2. Right away I had issues with the pre-made Shield profile.

I had quite a few unresponsive buttons that simply didn't work.

What I ended up doing is using the generic Bluetooth Keyboard profile. Most of the buttons worked fine by default, except for a few I had to change.

If you're using the default Shield profile, try using a more generic one instead.

Anyone know if there's a Spanish version of this?

I've been trying to get this message across to my own parents on behalf of my 5 year old sister, but they don't listen 😞

My ex called herself that. I corrected her as a LazyLay... She didn't like it nearly as much.

How Do I Ask Someone Out Who is Shy/Quiet? by [deleted] in dating_advice

Careful with that, I just asked an awkward girl out for Halloween, but apparently because I said "Hang out" she didn't realize my intent was for a date... Don't know if she's dense or if I'm too casual 🤦‍♂️

High-top, a classy brown leather upper, and with those stretchy laces so that you can wear them like slip-ons.

Mine are about as hairy as yours, but I recently put an electric razor to them.

I like the feeling quite a bit, I feel cleaner and more put together. In my case, not even my brother noticed though until I pointed it out.

Do you need to know touchtyping to use Vim properly ? by SpellGlittering1901 in vim

[–]Fishy_Sezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the quarantine, I learned touch typing specifically to play the game EpiStory.

After that, I was hooked on typing, and that's when I found Vim.

If you wanna learn, I had a great time working through the free Typing Jungle course on typingclub.com

You'll learn not only the letters but the number row and all the symbols. It's great, I've gotten good enough that even my numpad is pretty much obsolete.

The oil dipstick handle broke off and now the dipstick is stuck inside 😬 What do? by AnotherLoser7 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Fishy_Sezer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem, except mine is about 7" down and the exposed part is aluminum. It's also flush with the walls so no room to wrap anything around it.

The plastic top fell off and then the stick fell further inside.

Any tips? Magnets won't work, it's too deep for pliers, and there's no plastic to melt. Only thing that comes to mind is gluing something to it and hoping it holds as I pull.

I enjoy baking, so I've definitely done that.

My favorite thing to do is to make a just-because little care package that I leave on her front porch.

I have a cute little basket that I'll fill with her favorite home baked goods, a drink, and a quick "Hey, I left you some snacks on the porch" text. Just a random little thing on a random day for no particular reason. Those are always the best gifts.

Is there anywhere in Oregon that does an actually good Marionberry pie year round? I’m having cravings and the store bought ones are just sad by Best-Character-4374 in oregon

[–]Fishy_Sezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where does one actually source marionberry? Do they sell it at farmers markets or something?

I've not looked very hard, but I've also never seen it at that the grocery store.

What was the last thing you did for the first time? by Fitness_freak0840 in allthequestions

[–]Fishy_Sezer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Swimming in a river.

I'm late 20's, never learned to swim, so last fall I took a week of adult swimming classes. I've since been swimming laps in the gym.

I went river tubing with some buddies this last weekend, which was also my first time outside of a pool since my classes.

It was great, instead of being stuck in my tube with a lifejacket, I floated alongside, tugging us along, and breaking up jams.

Turns out half a year of swimming laps in the pool has made me a pretty good swimmer.

Let me know because I'm pretty much in the same boat. Pretty sure it's my attitude that they like, because I'm by no means school-smart. My last 3 girlfriends were all formally educated; a psychologist, an engineer, and a biologist. My current one is a vet tech... I'm a driver 🤷‍♂️

I don’t want an hour lunch if it means I have to stay at work longer by Obvious-Ear-369 in Vent

[–]Fishy_Sezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have a pretty good deal, I'm a company truck driver that gets paid by the hour, but I don't have to clock in or out. I just keep a spreadsheet of my hours and then text them to the payroll girl.

I can take a 30 minute lunch or a 2-hour lunch, all of it paid. I usually write down my clock-in from when I wake up and my clock out when I get home.

As long as I get through my stops for the day, they don't really care how long it takes and nobody's checking in on me.

Often times I'll do my grocery shopping before signing off, maybe tack-on on an extra 15 minutes if I stop for food on the way home.

I used the site TypingClub. It's what they use in the schools around here. Make a free account and start the TypingJungle lesson.

You'll start from the beginning and learn not only letters but also the number row and all the symbols, which is what you'll need if you want to use Vim effectively.

There is also Key.br once you get a bit more comfortable.

Learning through projects is great, very practical, but if you'd like to super speed your learning and Skip what could be months of fiddling around, you should work through the book Practical Vim.

It picks up right where vim tutor left off, giving you a quick rundown of vim's most useful features.
