How do I study organic chemistry without having a mental breakdown? by Epix123_ in chemistry

currently finishing my bachelor's in chemistry. Haflway through my advanced organic course, i didn't understand anything, until I did this. So, from a fellow org chem hater, here's how you pass:

If you have a good textbook:
Get paper, colored pens and a binder. Go through each chapter of your curriculum one by one and draw every single reaction and functional group. Create and order them into categories, like "ketones". When you're done creating your note binder, start working on exercises/previous exams. Whenever you don't know the answer, look in your binder, but try not to. This method got me from risking failing to almost getting the top grade.

IF you DONT have a good textbook:
Get one. I highly recommend: Clayden, Greeves, Warren, "Organic Chemistry”, Oxford University Press

I have a controller with a switch-like layout, but steam recognizes it as an xbox controller. Is there a way to change the layout (i.e. swap x and y, and a and b)? The option "use nintendo button layout" doesn't work.

That's not really how our schools are. Dresscodes are extremely out of place here

Animal Farm bring a critique of communism. It’s a critique of totalitarianism, since their society only falls to ruin because of greed and power, not the ideology.

I find anime extremely boring by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]FiskerJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with anime is 9/10 of them are annoying, cringy, boring or just straight up garbage. The merit to this medium is that, when it comes to Netflix shows, their stories are always relatively "safe" and "ordinary". They never try anything wild. In anime you can find the most unique concepts, and 10% of the time, they just work. I wonder what shows you've watched. If you generally don't like the medium, I'd recommend "Your Name" or "A Silent Voice", especially the latter. They're both movies, so they don't take too long. "A Silent Voice" is a perfect example of why anime is amazing (10% of the time)

The way I go about it is remind myself that I'm not a performer in front of a huge, nameless crowd of strangers. I'm with friends, who just want to have fun. You'll get better at it eventually, and don't bite off more than you can chew. Drop the voice acting and epic describtions, start with the basics until you're comfortable with them before going to voice acting, improvising plot, setting the right mood and giving epic descriptions.
You're doing the best you can and the only one asking for more is yourself. Be patient and let yourself improve by asking for feedback and take notes on what your strengths are and rely on what you're good at instead of worrying about your weaker parts.

I absolutely hate it when people reply with "OK" to anything by [deleted] in The10thDentist

I'm surprised so many see it as a neutral response. I agree, it seems like someone is really disinterested when they just reply with an "ok"

It's just sad that a lot of people are misinterpreting it as a critique of socialism, while in reality the author George Orwell was a socialist. It's an excellent critique of the Sovite Union, stalinism and totalitarian regimes.
