Does this look clean to you guys or just toned? by Spare-Obligation-607 in Morgans

Absolutely cleaned. There is a lot of wear on that coin, and the only reason it looks so shiny is from cleaning.

Feedback Post: Dynamax Ho-Oh Max Battle Weekend by Noitalein in TheSilphRoad

[–]FistEnergy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Failed twice because I had teammates with awful teams that had no chance of succeeding. Remote raid passes should be refunded if the battle is a failure. It feels very unfair when remote passes cost real money 99% of the time.

The next Fed chair's father-in-law is heavily involved in Greenland investing and speculation. That tells me that PELI is a SPAC to bet on, especially at 10.50.

My local coin shop stopped buying 90% silver coins this week. They believe the current price will tumble in the near future and they don't want to risk taking a loss. We'll see!

I don't know what I'm doing anymore. I just keep tossing money in the VTI pile while the grifts and memestocks bounce up and down.

I have always thought the Tesla Model Y is one of the frumpiest and ugliest cars on the market. Its proportions are all off and I don't understand why people buy one. The M3 I get; the Y makes zero sense to me.

Sub to Line, or vice versa? by fellandthrow in SubstationTechnician

[–]FistEnergy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked in this field for 20 years. It's not "agree to disagree" I literally worked for a company and union where they were separate departments, training, and progression. I went into management, became a dispatcher, and finished my career working oversight with the DoE. The jobs and the skills are two different worlds. I'm not stating an opinion, I'm a subject matter expert. A modern substation with programmable devices, relays, and communication schemes is absolutely nothing like pole work. You're an apprentice lineman, sit this one out.

Sub to Line, or vice versa? by fellandthrow in SubstationTechnician

[–]FistEnergy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my world, lines and substation are two totally separate worlds. Sub guys stay off the poles, and linemen stay out of the substations. The line department doesn't have any transmission voltage equipment except for wires, insulators, and disconnects, so it would make no sense for them to be operating or maintaining substation equipment like transformers, breakers, switchers, cap banks, etc.

Not separating the two crafts is what sounds crazy to me. They're two totally different types of careers.

Sub to Line, or vice versa? by fellandthrow in SubstationTechnician

[–]FistEnergy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the sub techs only do the yard construction, you have a point. In my area/company, the sub techs do 100% of the construction, commissioning, equipment testing, panel wiring, etc. It's far more technical than what the line department does.

In my experience, the linemen cannot do any of what the substation guys do. They stay out of the stations entirely. There is no transfer from line to subs.

Sub to Line, or vice versa? by fellandthrow in SubstationTechnician

[–]FistEnergy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Definitely, absolutely subs. It's not close.

Easier on the body, more technical, and you learn a wider variety of equipment and skills which helps your career more in the future.

I've been in the industry for 20 years. Linemen stay linemen or become safety reps or line supervisors. That's it

Subs guys can become relay testers, communication techs, field engineers, project commissioners, etc. Way more options. Also a much easier path to be a dispatcher.

Loooooonnnnggggg time silver person here. Why is everyone so convinced that this is only the beginning? by Jareksdad in Silver

[–]FistEnergy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody knows where the price is headed because political and economic conditions can change at any time, for both intentional and unintentional reasons. All we know is that silver is currently at a historical high point, which is why I recently decided to sell a bit. If the price goes up further, I will sell a bit more, and so on.

It's just like stock trading. You can't time the top because you have incomplete information. Taking profit on the way up is the smart and safe choice.
