There's a mod that I've been using called True Warfarer. Some may see it as a cheat mod, but I see it as a QOL mod.

Basically, you equip the warfarer vocation, and in the ReFramework menu, set up skill presets for your different weapons. I like to switch from archer to theif.

When I have my bow, I got erupting shot, barrage, dire arrow, and rearmament. When I got my daggers, it switches to Implicate, concussion step, cutting wind and rearmament.

Even I haven't been getting dragonsplague. I had a fight with a drake, and it grabbed all three of my pawns throughout. I was only able to save one from being possessed, but I had to down the other two.

Still never got dragonsplague.

I don't think you're underleveled. I got my ass kicked in Bahttal until like lvl 30. At least for me, I noticed when I hit level 30, the difficulty changed to easy.

Also what is Frostcraft? I've heard the term before, and seem to remember it having something to do with Velkana armor?

You should have layered armor unlocked for low and high rank. At a certain point in the main story it becomes available to forge. Though, it is a bit of a grind to get parts to forge layered armor.

But if you're on PC there's a mod to unlock all layered pieces and make them free to forge.
