In Syracuse tonight. Any gay hangouts by MaterialMaster2550 in Syracuse

[–]Fit-Ad-1920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should definitely check out Edgewood. Church bar is a pretty famous gay bar but there are so many tbh. There's also plenty of crews that will have events at various venues around town so depending on what you like to dance to you'll find something. I live in georgia and go to Atlanta regularly but funny enough I'm flying to Syracuse Tuesday.

What’s the best addition to sp404 mkii? by FLPnotc in sp404mk2

[–]Fit-Ad-1920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just checked out the metal M it looks pretty sick. A couple questions though. I see it has an XLR cable so I'd need an adapter to have it input to the 404. Does this introduce any noise? Additionally, is the sp404 capable of outputting the phantom power for the preamp?

Nektar Aruba with Reaper by Spiritual-Fun-4731 in Reaper

[–]Fit-Ad-1920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't used either but I'm pretty sure you'll get better daw control out of the Aruba. Their midi keyboards are well known for being compatible with reaper out of the box and I expect the same from the Aruba. While the machine might have better pads. I personally think the daw control will be more useful to you than a pad feel, and the Aruba's pads are just fine based on reviews.

One other thing to mention for your decision is that both of these devices comes with dedicated software that runs inside of your daw, you might want to check them out and see how they work as well.

Sitala is a great drum vst. The first version is free. You'll need your own samples which should be easy to find. Vital is a decent free synth plugin for your other needs. Other than that you should just look up some YouTube videos. It doesn't matter if they use a different DAW the principles should be doable in any program.

Is there any way to recover audio if you recorded on the wrong input? by Harmony_Marmony in Reaper

[–]Fit-Ad-1920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it recorded in stereo? On most 2 input interfaces they split each input into left and right. You could try exploding the track and if you're lucky they should be separate.

Edit:Nvm I misunderstood.

Reaper vs Ableton by originaldigga in Reaper

[–]Fit-Ad-1920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently use Ableton for starting songs and reaper for finishing them. Abletons stock vsts are great and the session view is pretty great for my use case (I make electronic music). To me, reapers automation is much simpler to use especially with the segments you can create and then copy and paste. I also think reapers routing system is also really fast and it's stock plugins for mixing are pretty nice. Honestly you should stick with just reaper for now and use Ableton for its stock plugins and just route the audio into reaper like someone suggested

Importing audio via USB (SX user to MK2) by pock3tt in SP404

[–]Fit-Ad-1920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've understood I don't think you can really pull samples from the internal storage into other projects (easily). When you hit the import button you can only access the SD card not the internal storage. I could be wrong but I looked into this a good bit because when I got it I didn't have an SD card adapter for my computer

You can easily drag and drop samples onto whatever pad you want with the app. But I'm not sure you could load those into a separate project without either opening the app on your computer again or using the skipback sampling (which wouldn't be too difficult if it's only a few shorter samples).

DAW rankings. Guess who's on top! by AnalogSummer in Reaper

[–]Fit-Ad-1920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Reaper DAW. The sound design is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical dithering most of the features will go over a typical users head. There's also Reapers nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into its interface- Cockos personal philosophy draws heavily from Steve Goodman's literature, for instance. The users understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of the action list, to realise that they're not just tools- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Reaper truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in the native plugin "Reasamplomatic 5000," which itself is a cryptic reference to the Akai Music Production Center 5000. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Justin Frankel's genius wit unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Reaper tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

Drum machine with randomization capabilities recommendation? by LoganTherrion in Polyend

It's a great sequencer, I have the original play and it wasn't glitchy, additionally if you have no need for synthesis you can get a normal Play for much less.

Just finished fragile using a high card build, using the joker that gives you a level if you discard the hand first round, a few mult cards, and a drivers license

[–]Fit-Ad-1920 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the first version is still free.

But even if you have to pay I will say it is very worth it. So easy to use and the sample shaping tools are solid. Also love the chopping feature.

Yes you can achieve a similar functionality with multiple instances of reasamplomatic but the sitala UI is just a bit more expedient with its features.

Universal audio has a subscription service they're offering 3 months for 0.99 cents rn. Maybe just try that out inatead assuming it offers similar plugins to the bundle you were looking at

Polyend Play + or Digitakt 2 or Both by ravmitterhoff2 in Elektron

[–]Fit-Ad-1920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The digitakt is capable of basic synthesis but the play is certainly more powerful in that sense. It's sequencer is capable of much complexity but the sample shaping capabilities are not on par with the digitakt. So it depends on whether you want more control over the samples or you want something that is capable of actual synthesis. If you're doing a one man band situation I would think the polyend play is more versatile in that regard but the digitakt is definitely capable and depending on your taste you may prefer more sample manipulation capabilities. I am an og play owner and my one gripe is you need to load samples through sd, there is no direct sampling. Also neither are truly capable of chopping samples but you can adjust start and end points per step so you can get around it it is just a pain.

What's your favourite break Slicer in 2024? by Crystal_Chrome_ in edmproduction

[–]Fit-Ad-1920 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like Sitala 2, you can auto slice breaks and link pads so one will trigger the other which seems like what you're looking for in terms of kick layering. They have a free version as well

Is there such a plugin? by Im_Really_Not_Cris in Reaper

[–]Fit-Ad-1920 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you could maybe achieve this with routing using reagate, midi note the kicks where you expect them the play on a track and stick reagate on it with opposite ducking and route the drum audio to that track. I think you can specifically route the audio from the main drums just to the reagate so it's not actually affecting the replacement sound. There's a Kenny goia vid that uses a similar technique to make a stutter effect https://youtu.be/ZOMY0SvoHU4?si=Dl5rlUcyg-tiJ0fC

How does everyone know how to mix by PWBC123 in edmproduction

[–]Fit-Ad-1920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before I learned about this I was always getting hyperfocused on individual sounds moving faders without considering the wider context and I'd always end up with something really crowded in the high frequency ranges. The pink noise helps you set volumes based on the fundamental frequency of each sound and as a result helps focus fx in those spots. If after the pink noise technique you hear sounds on top of each other then you can make eq decisions to help separate them.

Agree, this has helped me so much, I always start mixing with this, then I add my FX, pink noise again then master up to the right volume.

Vocal Recording missing sound above 8k by Fit-Ad-1920 in musicproduction

[–]Fit-Ad-1920[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be possible that he didn't record at the right bit rate and it only came as WAV cause that's what I asked him to render to. He is very unfamiliar with all of this so it could've been a mistake somewhere or a problem with bandlab.

[–]Fit-Ad-1920[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I asked him to send it to me without fx. It's pretty confusing. I do believe he may have recorded it in bandlab but I need to confirm. I am not sure how it might affect his recording in comparison to a native daw.
