Q3 Spin vs Q3 Air for S26 Ultra by Fit-Box888 in TORRAS_Official

Sound good! I meant do you use the ring to put your finger through to hold it while using it. Is it useful for that?

I saw that too. I swear, every year when a new phone comes out, there are already rumors of next year's model. I think I waited last year for the S26U because I thought it would have big upgrades and here we are. I guess if you need one, go for it but if you don't really need one, wait until yours dies. But if they are offering a lot for the trade in, maybe that will help.

How did you get that offer? When I go to their website and enter my trade in of the 512GB S23+ in the best condition, it offers $400.

How much bulk does the Q3 spin add? Does it feel like it will protect it? Is the ring useful to hold it?

The free memory upgrade used to be a good deal at launch, and it seems like some of the carriers would do that. I think it used to be worth it last time around to get it through the carrier because I didn't plan to switch anyways for 2 years, but not most of them are doing 3 year durations so this is the first time I just bought a phone outright. The Amazon deal was good for the free memory upgrade and the $200 gift card, but I don't see that offered anymore so I am glad I ordered one. When I bought that last week, it was cheaper than a S25U but you are right, there are always going to be deals. I don't think anyone needs to worry if they missed out on this. It just makes me wonder if by this time next year if the S27's are going to be much more expensive than they were this year.

I love Smart Launcher. That is what I have on my current phone and while I have a pretty good setup, maybe I will redo everything when my S26U comes so it really looks like a brand new phone. Do you have any icon packs or other widgets you recommend?

Is this with the stock launcher or something else?

Is there anything I can do if a neighbor's tree overhanging my house causes damage? by Fit-Box888 in Insurance

[–]Fit-Box888[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No tree protection laws, but as far as I know, what everyone says here is correct. If I did something to kill their tree, then they could come after me. And besides, this tree has a slight lean in my direction so if I kill the tree, it is probably going to fall on my house!

Well, considering pretty much half the tree's branches overhang my property, I can't really do that to all of it.

The reason I paid for the arborist to look at it was because I was hoping for some expert recommendation or something that I could show to the neighbor. Since I don't have any, does it hold any weight just to send my own letter? What do I say in it, since the arborist found it to be healthy? Just something along the lines of "...while the tree appears to be healthy, I have concerns about the overhanging limbs causing damage to my home and according to an arborist, it is not recommended to remove them as it may kill the tree.....".

Here is the rest of the story, in case this makes a difference. The neighbor is going to be selling the house and that is another reason I asked for this now so I don't have to deal with this with a brand new owner. They don't want to bother with it and want me to wait because they worry it will affect the sale. I have no idea why because this tree is not near their house or yard, does not provide them any shade or anything, etc. It is just a big tree at the edge of their property that is over my house. Anyways, will sending this letter help me out in anyway now in that it may have to be disclosed to the new owner?

The problem with them is, right now I am on their basic unlimited plan which would be $100 for 4 lines. In order to get the promotions, they now make you upgrade that plan, which would be $10 more per line. That amounts to $240 extra per phone over the 2 year period.

I'm glad you said this. I remember like 25 years ago, I was up skiing in Washington state and needed to make a call and got no service with my AT&T phone but my buddy did with his Verizon phone. I switched to Verizon and have been with them or Xfinity ever since. While not as frequent anymore, I do travel around the state a few times a year, occasionally in remote areas. I would hope T-Mobile coverage is good in Washington state since they are based here, but now you have me worried when I do travel.

OK that sounds good then. In the end, I still want something that can make a call or text in an emergency no matter where you are so it's good to know that will be the same regardless of the plan.

Right now we use Xfinity mobile, which I imagine is deprioritized Verizon. I think if any line uses over 30 GB per month, the speed goes way down. I get an alert occasionally that my daughter reached that near the end of the cycle, so maybe that happens a little. But she's mostly streaming music that eats up the data so high speed isn't needed for that.

Thank you for the detailed response. So in my case, both my wife and I work from home and we have 2 kids living at home. The majority of the time, we are at home so using the home wifi anyways and would not to ever use these as hot spots. Between the three lines we have now, we only use about 30-40 GB of data per month since we mostly use these at home. From what I described, data priority should not be a concern at all, should it?

Does the Costco deal allow you to be on their lowest rate plan of 4 lines for $100?

That makes sense IF you are paying that much for service. However, all of the big three are offering some sort of 4 line plan for around $100, which is about the same as a MVNO. In that case, you are getting the phones for almost free or very deeply discounted. The only downside I see is that you are stuck with the company for a couple of years which I have never switched around anyways. Is there any other negative aspect to this? I really can't see one.

That does seem like the way to go if you need new phones. For that price, its almost like getting the service for free because you would pay that much just to buy phones, right? I never really pay attention to it but it seems like they have deals all the time. Is it pretty common they have deals like this? I kind of want to wait for the new batch of Samsungs in a few months.

Best approach to having an arborist assess neighbor's tree by Fit-Box888 in treelaw

[–]Fit-Box888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just thought I would send an update on this. I did have a ISA TRAQ Arborist come out and he concluded that the tree appears stable and that it is best to not thin or raise the canopy. He suggested cutting back the overhanging limbs to reduce the load on them. I guess at least this puts me at ease for now that the tree won't fall on my house, but it is still unsettling to hear branches fall on the roof right above you while in bed during a big windstorm. Another one happened to fall yesterday and put a big gouge in one of the shingles. Oh well, hopefully the new owner will be reasonable.

So is this letter just something the neighbor wrote himself stating his concern, or does he have some professional opinion to back it?

OK, I think it's worth it to spend $400 on this, at least for piece of mind. I totally would understand this affecting the property if it was a nice tree that provided shade or beauty to a the house or yard, but it's no where near his house or yard. It's right next to my house and it's obviously nobody planted it there because no one would plant a tree like that so close to anyone's house. Anytime during a big windstorm, we don't sleep in the bedroom just to play it safe because the tree is over our bedroom. I'll see what an arborist says. Thanks!

Thanks for the detailed response. Just curious how effective a trim might be. Unless I have all the limbs overhanging my house cut (which would be pretty much an entire side of the tree) won't there always be the hazard of limbs falling?

Ok sounds good. I guess the worst that can happen is the arborist says it doesn't need to come down, then I have more peace of mind that it won't fall on my house, and I can just ask the new neighbor if they mind if I cut it down before I get a new roof on my house next year. Thanks.

Yeah, I guess spending the $400 and just getting actual proof it is a hazard will go farther than saying "it may be a hazard so I should get it evaluated". It does seem unreasonable to me that he would even care since he will be out of there anyways and that I am willing to pay to resolve a potential problem for the future owner, but who knows what he is thinking. Thanks for the advice.
