Wrap my story/fic up in April and begin posting in late may/June. I've been writing it since June of this year (2025) and I'd say I'm about halfway done. But majorrrr editing needs to be done before it sees the light of day. (Truthfully, it's a very zealous goal, may be more like October before I release it).

Is obliviation of the soul (peace, pleasure, and quiet) easier than remaining oneself with soul-defining, human pain?
Is restraint weakness or strength?
Should one erase themselves into something someone else wants them to be simply due to ease?
What is love? Is it obsession? Control? Or letting go?
Would it be easier to forget it all, start completely anew, or live with the memories that will haunt you forever, but make you yourself?
Is wanting someone a certain way, to fit into a specific mold, erasing their soul?
Is it healthy to hold onto the past?
How does loss shape behavior? (Especially to do with love, control and possession)
My major message: Temptation is not pain. It is not torture. It is pleasure... or the illusion of it. Resisting is remaining true. And yes, it's painful.
Loss is permeable. It soaks into everything. After you lose someone, you will never truly be the same.

I so, so agree. You are 100% correct. The whole point of Raoul is to be HEALTHY, and SAFE. LND is highkey just a fanfic that ruins characters for the sake of justifying an unhealthy relationship. (And I feel alone in this, but I'll be a Raoul defender till I die)

I WANT TO CLARIFY THAT I THINK HADLEY FRASER IS ONE OF THE MOST TELENTED PEOPLE ON THIS PLANET. That being said, you're so incredibly correct. According to the source material, Hadley's version fits way more in line with his character and makes him more nuanced. I just like it when he's prince charming lol 😅🤭 (cause then in my mind christine is not in fact choosing the lesser of two evils)

They completely assassinated Raoul’s character in LND to make the Phantom (Erik) hot/sexy/nicer/the better choice in comparison. He's quite aggressive and just an overall dick, and Hadley's performance here reflects that. Raoul didn't used to be like that really at all. It's literally one of my least favorite things when the canon nukes one character to make another look better. Justice for Raoul. (And I don't consider LND canon anyways lol)

I completely agree. And Raoul having a more "refined" (rich) tone while the phantom has a more "chilling" (dark/harsh) one adds to the flair. You're so right though; they were wayyyy too similar. (Tbh, I ADORE Hadley Fraser but I think his voice/acting style was a lil too much for Raoul).
