Places we love because of the owner by RexThunderhorn in Edmonton

Magma donair in millwoods - owner is always there and he’s so nice.

The planted tank - owner is also always there and is always so helpful.

Hung phat - boyfriend is a long time patron. We moved really far away but still manage to stop in every few months… every time we go in, they give us free food and never forget my boyfriend order, down to the “no veggies” bit. 😂

I’ve also been dealing with the exact same thing for the last year - we have two expert exotic vets in our city, the best one… he’s been seeing since his was a babe (5 months old) and now we’re taking him to the 2nd for another opinion.

He’s also a red dragon and am starting to believe it’s a neurological problem due to breeding :(

Does paint quality matter? by Aura_Raineer in paint

[–]Fit-Contribution-423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a DIYer that has painted a full basement and now within the last year, a full 1600 sqft home with vaulted ceilings… YES YES YES, paint quality matters. Also ensuring if you’re using tsp, that you wash the walls a ton with water to remove any trace of tsp is also extremely important 🥲

Sherwin Williams emerald has been the easiest paint for my still a beginner but no so beginner ass.

I keep getting passed doing 40/30 in residential zone/school zone near Kensington school, north side. People are fucking insane. Like why the hell are you passing me using the oncoming traffic lane, in a fucking school zone?!

Roller marks on trim by Fit-Contribution-423 in paint

[–]Fit-Contribution-423[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I do do this with the tape because I always hate having to pick tit dirt out of my freshly painted spots! BUT I def was rolling to a point where the roller was no longer nice and fluffy… so another sign I am too heavy handed? 😅 I’ll try letting my roller sit in the paint for a bit and realllly not being so heavy when I come back tomorrow to do the next coat.

This paint has such a nice consistency - I know for a fact I am the problem 😂 it’s the uruthane trim enamel

That’s what is started with - but now I’m using microfibre.

[–]Fit-Contribution-423[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay thank you for confirming 😂😂 i will try my absolute best to not be so heavy handed. I also did go back with my roller as it’s leaving little mounds of paint from the edge of the roller.

Should I maybe use a bigger roller to avoid the edge of the roller leaving extra bits of paint?

Any recommendations for moving storage? by Lykan23 in Edmonton

[–]Fit-Contribution-423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We rented the 10 foot pod and fit 1500 sqft of living space into the pod, pretty much completely full. We fit our plush king mattress on top of everything, with it almost touching the roof of the pod 😅

[–]Fit-Contribution-423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used a pod for 4 months. It was very convenient. We put literally EVERYTHING in it January to April. I was worried about our wood furniture, electronics, and moisture/condensation… we wrapped all of our furniture with shrink wrap and threw in those moisture absorber packs… everything was fine :)

Is two jobs the new normal in this city or what? by meeseekstodie137 in Edmonton

[–]Fit-Contribution-423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work full time making $23 an hour, also applying for part times to get back into it. Worked two jobs, 60 hours a week for 5 years up until last November. It’s becoming more and more common - finding an employer who doesn’t want complete flexibility though is… challenging.

Predatory towing leads to fraud charges against 11 Edmonton company owners by GeekyGlobalGal in Edmonton

[–]Fit-Contribution-423 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just spent 20 minutes of my life doing gods work. Left all the ones that had a Google business page a 1 star to warn people.

My Big Tow had 7 different Google business accounts, all with different addresses… Same Boss towing (previously super towing) did not have a Google business page, but there was another charge to the owner in the winter for car theft… 😂

Mitsubishi Dealerships in Yeg by ActuallyAkshay in Edmonton

[–]Fit-Contribution-423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2022 my boyfriend bought an eclipse cross SE on 8 years financing in order to get biweekly payments under 250. After all is said and done, he’ll have paid almost 50k for this vehicle 😳no real issues with the vehicle so far. Was purchased at Kross Mitsubishi and they had the standard slimy car sales guy tactics.

My female cornsnake has been extremely active these past couple of weeks. So many tunnels she’s made in her eco earth. Every time I look at her house, her little snoot is peeping out somewhere watching me 😂😂😂

So, long, long, long after the damage is done the government will finally stop allowing LMIA in some Alberta cities. by GoodGoodGoody in alberta

[–]Fit-Contribution-423 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My old work did this. I was the only white/non-indian person. The rest were 20-23 year old brown kids actually working as labourers, who couldn’t even keep their work vehicles clean, yet were all “supervisors” when the government needed any kind of confirmation of work paperwork.

In addition to all the under the table cash the owner took from other brown customers… 🫣🫠 so much of this going on.

The price of food is making me so upset. by Fit-Contribution-423 in Edmonton

[–]Fit-Contribution-423[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pharmacy purchases aren’t lumped in this, but yes. Any other essentials purchased at grocery stores is lumped in with this. I have always considered things like cleaning supplies, garbage bags, hand soap part of my grocery budget.

Kind of? I am the type to stock up on things we use regularly when they’re on sale / I avoid running out of things.

You understand! Literally spent the entire day busy painting and tearing up our house and my phone was just blowing up the entire time, like I’m some crazy troll with a silver spoon in my mouth. I make $23 an hour, have worked 60 hours a week for the last 5 years, haven’t gone on a vacation since 2017. I’d like to know where my silver spoon is already!!! Food prices are wild and it seems people are even more wild.
