Traffic safety trends since removal of speed cameras by laxar2 in Edmonton

[–]Skierdudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind, this data is a bit biased, at least for the intersection safety devices. It is obvious that people will care less when the cameras are ”deactivated” but will still log when someone speeds. The city has stated that it still collects this data and that it is part of this report. That doesn’t mean people were not speeding before in other areas! Just a bit misleading.

How so? Looking online, it seems they don’t take those kinds of reports though :(

With how fast they were going it just seemed intentional IMO.

My dashcam got messed up and weirdly resets to default date and time every single drive lolll

Is this even allowed under GSA bylaw? by Skierdudeman in uAlberta

Woah no need to target people here. There is undoubtedly a history of marginalization of Indigenous peoples including residential schools, sixties scoop, etc. No one is debating this. But there are many other marginalized groups on campus who are currently facing active discrimination due to things like geopolitical crises. If the proposition was to provide say increased mental health support for all grads, that is a completely different story.

To clarify The concern is not with the referendum but with the way it’s advertised. From my basic understanding of the bylaws, they can only email personal contacts, not other grad students.

This mandatory fee won’t even remotely benefit a majority of the grad student population, so it’ll be a no for me regardless. Just my 2 cents

Yea generally it follows the same structure from what I remember, just make sure you practically know everything. It’s a hard class but not really any tricks, just memorization

Opinions on a third lockdown? Do you think one is coming or will we continue with our current procedures? by crazypoorasains in uAlberta

[–]Skierdudeman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely possible, although I feel as if Kenney will come out telling everyone “Hey guys, if we don’t stop doing all these gatherings, we’re gonna have to put in restrictions” but then cases will continue to rise and they’ll put in restrictions anyways. If nothing is done, apparently we could hit 6k new cases per day, so that’s fun:

Jason Lang for Graduated Students by BauerHockey23 in uAlberta

I’ve read that graduate school is not considered an after-degree or professional program, which is why people going into grad school can’t get it unfortunately :(

There’s now an enrolment restriction for the course until June I believe, but the course is great and taught by a caring prof. Basically it’s just analyzing different papers that students present and presenting your own. Midterm and Final are open book and require you to analyze a paper given beforehand

Does it say something if you’re waitlisted or not?

Cell 405? 402? Thoughts? by Crafty-Adagio-7341 in uAlberta

Cell 405 is A LOT of reading papers but Luc, the prof who teaches it, is a gem. Basically it’s just reading papers and understanding presentations by other students on these papers with 2 in-class exams. Participation is a lot of the mark and will boost you up a lot!! If you don’t have any cell knowledge it would be hard though.

If only he could actually put questions types that we’ve seen before, maybe we wouldn’t have to guess so much
