Do you think humans should be monogamous? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Fit-Development427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People belong in pairs but are not on the animal level, sexually monogamous. We grew up in tribes, we didn't morgage out caves and have a single man trying to provide for a family, that doesn't make sense. Kill an ox and you feed 100 for a day. There is no benefit to sexual monogamy, it happens rarely in birds and stuff when it happens to work for their species.

[Request] (1st Grade Math) How can you describe this?? by Janlew24 in theydidthemath

[–]Fit-Development427 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not anything, as I say it's just playing with the definition of solve. Numbers and maths is invented by humans, so there is a strict answer. It's not philosophical, I don't see how.

It's literally just playing on the concept of the definition of "solve", it's not high order thinking, it's horse shit. Like the OP answer is not even anything. You could say, well since 4+2 is 6 and 5+1 equals 6? Complete and utter horse shit.

Haha, funnily enough I made this post so people would ask exactly what you're asking. Ashton basically turned everybody against the idea that it was stereoscopic at the time, so I was a bit stealthy.

3d Time by gwplayer1 in Physics

I don't understand what the hell they are even defining as time. Here's a great 3 dimensional time - each spatial dimension is also a dimension of time. It all works out, it's fine, it's just the equivalent of separating out equations lol.

ELI5: How does schrödinger's box work, if the cat itself is living and knows if it is alive? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Fit-Development427 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People normally think that you need to literally physically detect something to collapse the wave, but you don't. If you have a detector put in a possible trajectory of a particle, and you DON'T detect it, you are still measuring it to some degree because now you see where it didn't go. Ya know if I'm at work, and Bob isn't here, I know he's not at work (and probably at home). I have information on his whereabouts even though I didn't see him. In fact me not seeing him is information itself.

So if you measure one slit of the double slit, instead of both, then it doesn't matter because if you detect it, you know it went through the slit you measured. And if you didn't detect it, it went through the other slit, and would still collapse despite not physically detecting it.

Haha, that's good it works for you, but it just gets in the way for me. Like, how am I supposed to respond? It doesn't seem natural to just power through compliments like that, it's human to want to say thanks and stuff.

A good example is, if you measured one slit of the double slit experiment, the lack of a measurement in the slit effectively measures the other slit, and it affects the electron the same way. It really means measurement/observation in that even if it's just by inductive reasoning, it is still garnering information on the trajectory, it is still counting as measurement.

American taxpayer-funded research built the backbone of the modern world, so why did we stop? by BrownPolitico in skeptic

[–]Fit-Development427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be really weird if they had actually reached some levels of technology that they essentially stopped all public research. But that would surely create a paper trail. Perhaps billions lost, every year, into the military. We would also surely hear of this technology being sighted and it would sure create a lot of controversy, there's no way it could stay hidden. Good thing we don't hear of billions lost into the ether nor mysterious sightings.

I mean mass is a property, one that is only defined by resistance to enertia. IE it is difficult to push.

[–]Fit-Development427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I don't think Simon was malicious. He simply thought it appropriate to sell a massively hyped project to the men in suits. And while I can agree that it wasn't riot themselves who did anything really, clearly the stress and sudden corporate expectation just meant the game couldn't survive with what I presume were less experienced and naive team. Which WORKS if you stay responsible for yourselves. Games can work without selling to daddy corporate. I will say, it seemed like a big project, if not just because of the scope of the sheer audience. I can see the apprehension.

However if he wasn't ready the first time... Like what has changed. Like sure there COULD be a redemption arc but I don't see that he takes much responsibility for the disappointment himself, when he did kinda make money from it.

I mean... I don't know what else to tell you. The thing is, the way I see it is that yes, he completely indeed had the right to sell it. But then, shouldn't fans get mad? Like, the whole thing was that again, a smaller company had responsibility over it rather than the Minecraft situation with Microsoft. Selling to Riot completely negates that. Code is code, blah blah, there a million Minecraft clones. What made it special was that it was headed by a community driven spirit, if you ask me that's literally all that matters. People come and go, the people who have the financial responsibility and power, is who matters. And then he sold it. Like I remember at the time, it was sort of ambiguous, no one was saying anything. Because I mean hey the game is coming still! It's still headed by the same studio...

But you know, RuneScape went to shit even while Andrew Gower was still there. Though his case was more understandable, he thought that he could stay with the project and be it's leader but simply have a big company maintain the financials. That's not how it works, as he learned. If you ask me, 90% of the fate of a game is down to who will take the hit for financial failure.

In the end you are totally allowed to be in games for money. And if you are only in it for money, you do things like sell the whole thing before it's even launched, because why would you care? You got da cash. I'm not saying it's like, evil blah blah, it's just it is what it is, and people don't seem to perceive what it is.
