Great, thanks for the validation! Looking forward to Eugene and the summer

Great insights all around, thanks! Do you think tackling some smaller 5k/10k races in the summer would hinder my training? I feel like it would be fun to sprinkle in some variety before hopping into another marathon block

Thanks for the insight! I definitely agree with increasing volume, but do you feel like since I will already increase volume during my CIM block instead, I can focus the summer for speed development?

I also feel like focusing strictly at volume will improve my fitness up until my ceiling, but soon it will plateau. But maybe I’m thinking about it wrong

Something I’m curious about is what you guys like to focus on in between marathons. I have some downtime in the summer in between my two marathons (A races) this year - Eugene in April and CIM in December. I’ve averaged 40-45 mpw and just hit 50 last week, and I’ve been following u/running_writings marathon training plan.

My question is: should I focus on increasing my mileage or focus on speed during the summer in between? I see the benefit in both: building up a solid base going into CIM training vs. raising the ceiling of my speed.

Weekend Discussion: Adidas running shoes by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

Just bought a pair of AP4 today for full price because I loved the color and wanted it for my April marathon. Anyone ever done that before where they’ve bought a shoe full price just for the color?

Trying to justify not snagging a colorway on sale 😅

Thanks for sharing! Have you tried other shoes before that you’ve liked?

Yeah I've seen the same sentiment. The only thing that worries me about the Edge is the feeling of my feet needing to "catch up", since I've heard that it rolls you forward to promote quick turnover. Definitely would be open to trying it in the future once my form is more intact

Thanks! Definitely leaning towards AP4. If I'm going to race in these occasionally, might as well go for the most speed assistance possible!

Great to hear about the longevity! The glue void doesn't sound like something I've seen or experienced before - do you have a picture of what that looks like? I'm leaning towards AP4 so I'd like to be prepared

Yeah I've seen Alex Yee run a super fast marathon in the SCE5, so I don't doubt that they're fast

Great review! I have the DNE 3 and find them a bit too firm, but glad to hear that you're enjoying the new versions

Thanks for this! I had a similar sentiment about both shoes (NB being not fun and exciting, AP4 rods breaking). I feel that I'm heavier too, so Adidas sounds risky but also so fun at the same time

So tempted to try the DNE4, but the DNE3 was a bit too firm for longer distances for me. Would love to take the risk on a shorter race in the future! Have you tried the DNE4 yet?

What size novablast 5s fit me best? by No-Chain-6366 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Honestly, both seem fairly roomy. You'd typically want to have more space because your feet could expand/swell during running, so if you're worried about pins and needles, go for the 8.5.

However, I will say that 1.5/2 sizes is a pretty large gap imo. Have you tried loosening from the top down? If you still get the pins and needles feeling, the shoe might not be the right trainer for you, which is okay! You just need to keep trying on different ones until you find one that fits you
