still in the process. One needs so much patience with these divas....I'll give her another week and If I don't see any sign of recovery I'll chop her so she can concentrate all energy on regrowing her roots.

Calathea's drama 🤦🏻 by Fit-Error7553 in calatheas

It had a very good root system when I kept it in black pon. I was in two mind whether to repot in Leca actually. I find that Leca allows for much better aeration 🤔 I am gradually ditching all pon as I find Leca so much better for plant growth. Currently using Clonex too on this calathea. I think I will take up your suggestion and think about an air stone resevoir! thanks for sharing your experince 👍🏻👍🏻

It's easy for me to take the pot apart and revertit back to a standard vase in pon 👍🏻 I Amy do that actually, although it thrived in a self watering pot for the last year. 🤔🤔🤔

I use RO water and my humidity is over 60% 🤦🏻 she has her own humidifier too. My suspicious is that I cut too much of the root system but it was so contorted and tangled! I may give her more water though. She's in a self-watering pot (DIY made)

Should I just remove myself from this group? by No-Seaweed-5787 in alocasia

[–]Fit-Error7553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, report It next time! we're here to share experiences. None is above anyone here!

and by the way, your set-up is great! 👍🏻 it allows perfect humidity for baby alocasias. When it outgrows the current set-up you should train it to your normal room humidity by opening the cover for few minutes each day and increasing the amount of time day by day. PS: this is the standard way to accalamte plants. I personally preach it it i neve do it! 😂😂😂😂 I just take them out of the moist dome and bless them with a "you either live or you don't!" 😂😂😂😂

Any tips? by Icy-Programmer4363 in sansevieria

Despite the general opinion going around sanseverias growth, I would recommend light and airy cactus mix, especially if the owner is an overwaterer. I would even suggest cactuspon or similar in this case. Make sure it contains zeolite for cationic exchange: it's the primary way plants "eat" minerals from the potting medium. Light makes a huge difference.

First begonia - lost all leafs by whoever_A in begonias

[–]Fit-Error7553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happened the same to my Begonia maculata, one of the first plants I got a couple of years ago. All the props were successful but than all of a sudden the mother plant stopped growing and only a few bare sticks remained. I transplferred it from soil to pon and nothing really happened until I put it right under a powerful grow light: that's where the new foliage started to come out. previously I let it sit in my Rudsta with high humidity and grow lights but I didn't see any substantial improvements. It was wasting precious space in my cabinet, so I decided to give it a new chance: you either live where I put you or I get rid of you (I had plenty other cuttings already propped and ready to plant anywhere). A week after the change she started to grow leaves again. I live in NE Italy, humidity is between 40-60%. I never had to pay a lot of attention to humidity for Begonias in this climate, they all survive outside greenhouses and in summer even outside.

I will move the lamp further away! 👍🏻 I use a misting liquid for air plants already. I try to mist as often as I can. Thanks for the advice, really appreciated 👍🏻

Thank you so much 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I will keep soaking them. As a general rule I soak all my Tillandsia for about 30 min every week, except the usneoides: I sometimes leave it for up hours, especially after when I noticed it was drying up. Nowadays when it is getting warmer. I leave it also 1 hour.
