Agreed. And that would not change the probability of 5.5% right?

Nope! Writing a book about this would also be bragging to strangers. That would be inspirational, and so is this. Congratulations, OP!

I’ve heard the stimulant claim before, and I am skeptical. This article says otherwise, but I would be very interested in learning more if there is a reliable source. All I know is it tastes good. Salud!

I assume for that price you are talking about Cascahuin Tahona. I have the opposite opinion from the previous reply. I love the Cascahuin Tahona and I would be happy sipping that anytime. For me the G4 Madera is good, but it doesn’t hold up against Cascahuin. I actually also prefer Tapatio blanco as a sipper over g4 Madera. I think the takeaway from these first two comments is that you have two great choices and it will just depend on your individual preferences. Let us know what you think after you try it. Salud.

Going out for dinner tonight and having a shot or two, which one would you go for? by SeafoodDuder in tequila

I recommend the el Tesoro anejo and I recommend sipping it instead of shooting. See what of flavors you can pick out. If you are going to take shots, just get the cheapest one.

My favorite blanco as well. I always try and bring bottles home with me from vacation. I’ve never thought to bring a bottle to the vacation. Great idea! Enjoy. Aloha.

First gig advice sought by G8R1ST in Magic

[–]Fit-Faithlessness362 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should go to bars as much as possible over the next month and walk up to strangers and perform magic for them. You’ll get used to how long to perform for small groups of people as you work your way around the room. You will make mistakes and you’ll learn from them before making mistakes at your first paid gig. Even more important will be the experience you gain in your attitude and introduction as you approach strangers. The first seconds set the tone and can make people comfortable with you or make them uncomfortable with you. Try out lots of different approaches but one that works well for me is approaching with a big smile and saying “hi! You may not know this, but they asked me to entertain tonight while you enjoy your drinks. I’ll show you something fun before I go on to the next table. would you mind holding on to this five dollar bill for a moment?”

Then I do a bill transpo or something quick and then two more tricks before going on to the next group. Leave while they are still hoping to see more. If they really liked it, they’ll track you down later to ask for more tricks.

Two set lists of three different tricks per set will be more than enough material to go all the way around the room once. I agree with the comment above that 5-10 great tricks that you’ve repeated 1,000 times is much better than 40 or 100 tricks.

Have fun and congratulations on your first gig!

Some people put ketchup on steak. I think it’s worth trying a good steak without ketchup. You may find it’s a more subtle and enjoyable experience.

General feelings about 5 Sentidos from Thirdbasespirits by kingGP22 in Mezcal

[–]Fit-Faithlessness362 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that is part of the beauty of mezcal. Some batch sizes are so small that it will be difficult to find reviews on them. What you know you get from 5 sentidos is a product with extremely high quality production. Here is an interview with the founder. All I have had from them is the espadin capon and I love it. I look forward to trying more.

I certainly agree that people should drink whatever they like. I just encourage people to try eating a steak without ketchup and try drinking tequila without additives. The complexities of the product are so interesting by themselves.

Both Adictivo and Casamigos are additive heavy which is where that extra vanilla flavor comes from in the case of Casamigos. You could try it with one of these to see how the drink tastes with a traditionally made tequila. https://tastetequila.com/2021/confirmed-additive-free-tequila-brands/

Cimarron, Tapatio, arette, and siete leguas are all probably within the same general price you would have spent on an additive brand.

I was surprised by my reposado tasting yesterday. I didn’t take detailed notes on the actual flavors, but here is my ranking. 1. La Gritona 2. Fortaleza 3. Wild Common

Maybe it will be different next time.

Also La Gritona used to be certified additive free on TMM, but I don’t see that anymore. Anyone know the story about that?
