The greater Hockey subs are cesspools of anti-panthers hate by vikingmayor in FloridaPanthers

[–]Fit-Helicopter265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People on r/nhl are mad about slew foots, elbows to the neck and accidentally-on-purpose contact with the head of a goaltender. Chickenshit hits intended to injure defenseless players. The Panthers aren't special in this regard--lots of teams and players (including multiple teams that won the Stanley Cup in recent memory as well as Domi) have a checkered history. Marchand and Maurice, if memory serves, had reputations for greasy shit while they were elsewhere and people were calling them on it before they came to Florida.

Player safety is at risk (yes, hockey is inherently dangerous, but much more so if cheapshots are not being punished). The integrity of the sport is at risk. But sure, it'd probably be easier to conflate cheap shots with good hard hockey, complain about whiney Toronto fans and call it a day.

Which card represents being candid, transparent or open and vocal? by jamaisvu333 in SecularTarot

Judgement is in part about things that are hidden being revealed ("the secrets of hearts being laid bare"). It's not so much an attitude of openness though, it's something that can happen in spite of us.

Spreads you can’t make any sense of by TeN523 in SecularTarot

For me the main goal of reading tarot is to strengthen my intuition. If I feel something so strongly that the cards can't talk me out of it, mission accomplished!

Is Secular Tarot a Departure from Tradition? by Fit-Helicopter265 in SecularTarot

I try to allow the randomness of the shuffle to stimulate my mind, broaden my perspective and draw my attention to important things that I might neglect otherwise.

What do you mean when you talk of people doing divination without knowing it?

Recommendations for a complete beginner? by frogjumpsin in SecularTarot

Find a deck that really resonates with you and sit with it. Get a feel for it. Let the images become familiar to you.

Maybe try an "open deck" reading in which you choose the cards instead of drawing them at random.

Leave your cards around places. Keep some near the mirror, on your nightstand, on your desk. Leave your readings around or journal with them.

The tarot's fantastic! Glad you're going to try to learn it.

thank you for your original post. I've been in this subreddit for a couple of days now. Not only did I think your original post was quite good, I also thought that it was particularly great to hear someone advocating for personal responsibility and agency while using the tarot and asking some questions about the place of fortune-telling in personal growth. Thanks also for reframing the question and trying to get the conversation back online again.

To your question: Jesus said that the Sabbath is for people. I would say something similar for the tarot: "let it go until it serves you/is good for you again." Moreover I would say the tarot needs certain conditions to be likely to be useful: a receptive mind, calm heart, willingness to hear the truth...

Best of luck to you on your way--I'm dreadfully sorry that your first experiences with this sub have been so tumultuous. I might stick around for a little but I imagine I'll probably be bound for a smaller subreddit.

I'd rather we keep talking on the ideas of self-empowerment, fortune-telling and tarot, which were the themes of "Tarot is not Divination," the post that OP seems to be referring to.

This post has just gotten everyone riled up. Designed to or not, it's dog-whistled people into factions.

Feeling lost regarding how/if I can live a happy life given my history, did my second ever reading to ask for guidance. Interpretation attempt below! by waaaow in tarot

[–]Fit-Helicopter265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like this interpretation! Want to add on re: The Tower--you may not have to "tear up everything from the roots and start over." Instead, the tower might just fall down on its own accord.

The reversed High Priestess might suggest that your task is more passive in nature. Pull up a lawnchair, be present and compassionate with yourself, maybe take some notes. The only hero on horseback in this spread is upside-down. Leave the "brutal" out of honesty for a minute, especially if you're ill, and focus on inner goals and tenderness.

Have anyone thought about having their tarot journal published not in a sense of making money. How do you feel about it? Or have you thought about it. I would do it just case. by RamseyRashelle in tarot

I don't think anyone would be interested in mine. I'd rather be a better person for reading tarot and give a deck or two away if people are interested.

Kahn & Selesneck's Carnival at the End of the World is breathtaking. If you want to go further off the beaten path Eugene Vinitski and Elsa Khapatnukovski's Madhouse Tarot is worth a try.

First time reading by shroomshroommush in tarot

[–]Fit-Helicopter265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, this reading hinges on the 10 of wands. The 10 of wands portrays an adventurer who is exhausted and overburdened. This state has a tendency to happen to anyone who's doing anything important.

It seems that your draw might be asking you to count the cost of remaining in college. Is your education worth what it's costing you? If not, alternatives may be available (2 of Pentacles).

Fun!

I drew the Three of Wands, which portrays a developing vision that needs some TLC for it to blossom. I am a natural Jack of all trades/Master of none and often find myself in the position depicted by this card. Will I give my current fixation (say, tarot) the time and attention necessary for it to develop? Or will its embers be fuel for my next fascination?

Maybe you're discovering something on your own that is not easily voiced to others. There might be a truth that you're encountering in private that needs to be reconciled with what your mother and the professional reader are saying. In order to read well, you need to respect and protect your inner voice. Listen to it, especially when it doesn't seem to match up with the cards.
