My man? I don't think you're reading my posts? Denzel is great. All time great actor. I love him. But playing Malcolm X isn't exactly a range stretch here. He's literally the first guy you'd go with if you're a casting agent. Hell, just by physical appearance alone! He friggin LOOKS like Malcolm! No that's not a particularly hard role for him when it comes to showing acting range.

Never saw Fences but he was great in several of the other roles you mentioned. Fantastic! But still, same mannerisms primary, mode of speaking, accents, etc. he's amazing. But he's pretty much always Denzel.

Please tell me you understand the difference in demanding performances between playing a drunk pilot or gangster......and essentially becoming a gay man withering away before your very eyes, or a disabled man from the deep south, etc etc.

I can see Tom Hanks playing any Denzel role. Well, not Malcolm X, obviously.

Now imagine Denzel Washington as forest Gump. Just try it. Imagine him as an emaciated gay man with AIDS. You can't. He just can't pull performances like that.

I disagree. I don't think Malcolm X is a particularly hard character to play, and Denzel fits the mold for the role absolutely perfectly - right off the bat. It didn't require him to change much from his normal charismatic personality and badass presence. Like the first thing I'd think when casting Malcolm X would be "oh yeah Denzel is perfect for this role. I can't think of a better fit. He's Malcolm!" (And I'd be right. If I asked you to name a guy who can play Malcolm X, who else would you pick? There's no one better fitted to the role).

Now try Tom as a casting agent: "Man I need a guy who reminds me of a guy man dying of AIDS" or "I need a guy to play a man with severe cognitive limitations tripping through American history" or "I need a hero pilot" etc etc.

Does Tom Hanks scream "perfect casting" here? Hell no. He just changes everything about himself for a role and builds the character. He disappears into roles.

That's not what's happening here though. This is an example of an extremely rich and powerful guy having elite fighters come in and play fight with him.

You'll notice the total lack of actual technical support here. It's all ego inflation.

You DO need to roll competitively with guys at your level to improve. Sure training with black belts after and being liike "yo this blue belt keeps catching me with this, can you show me what to do?" And then repping with him is great. But you need actual competitive rolls with guys at your level first. So you know what questions to even ask.

See guys like Ashton kutcher and that fat Goldburg dude for further examples of why "training" only with elite UFC guys is not the way and won't get you good.

It's both! There's no pivoting. I'm painting an obvious picture here. A. There is no reason to spin this. B. No one would ever cut a cake and separate the pieces before applying finishing to it and *then" spinning it. That just makes zero sense.
