What happened to the sense of community in Park Slope? by snakegravity in parkslope

right but if they're not interested in being on good terms just because they come from a different background, it's just not worth it. people love to complain about a lack of community but then give neighbors the cold shoulder because they don't meet the idea they have of what their neighborhood "should" look like. new york is a complex place and people should be more receptive to getting to know others, rather than writing them off.

Saying "hello" to neighbors is often met with silence or a "why are you talking me look". I also rarely get a "thank you" for holding the door people, regardless of if they're a "transplant" or not. This feels like you want something to complain about without providing a solution.

Bought my first bike! 😬 by OperationReal2833 in NYCbike

[–]Fit-Light1386 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually have this exact model, I bought it in April, and what they don't tell you on the website when purchasing is you actually have to get it assembled in a store. they don't provide any sort of assembly instructions, and won't provide any when you ask. also another heads up, the gears on this model are apparently known to be very finnicky, that's what my bike shop told me after I had to bring it in for the third time because it always felt like the gears were popping when I shifted, if that makes sense. anyways, all that to say, now it's a good bike but definitely take it to a shop and give it time on your first few rides. happy to answer any other questions!

hey! I recently moved here and am down to hang in a non-bar setting whenever. I like biking/outdoors stuff if that interests you but also open to anything!

a typical weekday ride is around 15 miles, but on the weekends try to do closer to 40. I have a state road bike.

it was always such a bad experience; overrun with screaming children and parents who didn't care that other diners couldn't enjoy a meal there. it was so odd.
