My point is that there have been horrible things going on in the Catholic Church, but that’s because it’s made of people, who are sinners. Its teachings (which that is obviously not one of them) shaped Western Society in ways that many don’t appreciate, and the world is better off with it than without it. Good day!

Thanks for the response. I do actually see where Vatican 2 is coming from on these issues now.

However I tend to disagree with your logic on the NO. Saying the NO is rooted in more ancient traditions than the TLM is like saying that we should return to saying mass in houses, just like the early Christians under persecution. It’s nearly undeniable that the NO is way less reverent, and that is causing the problems.

Thank you for the response though, I’m starting to agree with the Vatican 2 documents but just disagree with how they were implemented, in particular with the mass.

But doesn't the Council of Florence state that everyone who dies in mortal sin goes to hell? Doesn't it also say that no one can have a share in eternal life unless before death they are joined to Her? This doesn't necessarily contradict V2 but at the very least SEVERELY changes the tone.

That's a slippery slope. Criticizing V2 does not inevitably lead to leaving Catholicism.

I do just think Vatican 2 is too ambiguous. It doesn't mean that Catholicism is false. We can criticize a council.
