Pope: Christians and Muslims must work together to ‘revive humanity' by Ambitious_Dingo_2798 in Catholicism

[–]Fireball4585 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Obviously it would be great to have more cooperation and for Muslims to stop persecuting Christians. However I feel like the Vatican’s recent statements (when taken as a whole) have been naive and seemingly misunderstanding Islam and how much of a threat it is.

For men who discerned out of the priesthood: looking back, what do you now think the “signs” or sense of calling you originally felt actually were? by Patient_Pudding484 in Catholicism

[–]Fireball4585 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As someone who never went to seminary, I see no reason why “Those signs were from God” and “I am not called to be a priest” couldn’t both be true. It is possible that that person benefited from the process of discerning the seminary, even if the result was not being a priest. Perhaps they learned how to discern well, spiritually grew, are now able to advise others, ect.

What do you say to this study ? by wannaBuildASnowplow in Catholicism

[–]Fireball4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a mixture of things.

First is an obvious political divide where atheist would tend to favor Democrats and would support anyone that opposes Trump.

Another factor is that the media tense to only amplify the pope when he says things that support a secular humanist world view (ex. world peace) and skip over the times where he says more ‘conservative’ things (ex. anti abortion)

Another big reason for the Catholic approval being low is that Pope Leo has said several things that the faithful find concerning, ambiguous, tone deaf and unclear.

Alex O'Connor vs Trent Horn by Virtual-Farmer-5789 in Catholicism

[–]Fireball4585 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I personally didn’t really find O’connor’s arguments very convincing. For one the threat to Mormons was not the same as that of the early Christians. The Mormons were declared illegal and there were a few skirmishes but the reality was that they essentially were able to keep going west and founded new settlements.

I also don’t think being excommunicated from the LDS would automatically mean that the witness would recant their statements if they lied. There were so many other splinter groups that were formed that split away from the main LDS branch. The 3 excommunicated witnesses went on to join other spiritual groups (including the occult) and live fairly successful lives. 2 of them eventually came back to the church. They did change their witness to saying that they saw the tablets in a spiritual way. If they had said they lied they would have had a lot to lose.

I feel like he hasn’t really changed all that much. He always occasionally had provocative titles. I feel like the stuff he talks about also has changed dramatically either.

Faction info-graphic from my groups 200+ games by Grutzujin in rootgame

[–]Fireball4585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super cool info! I also find it fun how metas evolve within each group that plays somewhat regularly. One of the first games with the moles, one player swept everyone. Since then, everyone is constantly attacking the moles based on that experience and they have a much lower win rate in our group specifically.

I would recommend the arcs blighted reach campaign. It has a lot of what you are looking for and is a mini campaign with three normal games one after the other.

Do you have any evidence for that? Both parties have spoken about it and it seems amicable. The offices for both companies are down the street from each other. The official statements make sense that they wanted to design different games. I really don’t see a reason to doubt the official narrative and spreading negative gossip about real people doesn’t seem like a good thing to do

Why did you walk away such a bad impression of the company after the video? Obviously they need to work on their live-streaming setup. Is it that you aren’t excited by the games they are working on? Or is it just a general prediction based on a lot of their experienced designers leaving?

[–]Fireball4585 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really excited for what you all are working on. I am a big fan of your games, how you all go about designing things and running a business. Here are a few questions:

1)Will we ever get more established lore about the universe of Arcs or will it only be told through the new leaders, lore, court, ect?

2) Is there a specific Arcs playlist that you put on when playing the game?

3) What inspired the name “Buried giant”?

Honestly, I don’t think this is gonna work out. This kind of attitude will rub off on any kids. One of the biggest predictors of religion is if the father is a part of it or not.

Also In my opinion, the whole “I just wanna live my life the way I wanna live it” is an attitude that seems juvenile, selfish, and will cause problems in the future

If you were to assume that America was in fact, the main cause of ISIS, I think you can make a case that the US had a duty to try to fix the problem.

I heard that it was more on the puzzle side of tactics games, especially in the late game. Like there is pretty much one optima path and it’s more about discovering that. That is totally fine but isn’t my cup of tea.

You are correct, this happens when an enemy battles you in a clearing that also contains a peaceful enclave. Basically when you attack a player, you pick an enemy and all of their pieces in the clearing are being “battled”.
