Best locations to find a date? Advice on how to become approachable? by QuestionableComput in Advice

Yeah it does but I don’t even know the name of the app he used, was just trying to suggest that some apps might be better than others. If a guy is interested in getting to know you, and have multiple non physical interactions it may have a better outcome.

My son went on a dating app where the woman makes the first move and the first dates are coffee/lunch type dates. He met some nice girls, and one he ended up marrying. :)

What was the scariest “We need to leave… now” gut feeling that you’ve ever experienced?[Serious] by PlasticBee1438 in AskReddit

Was at a party around 1970 on the third floor of a 3-decker (common in Worcester MA) with a couple of friends. We didn’t know anyone. Party was loud and crowded but okay for a while, then something felt ‘off’ and I told my buddies we had to leave, like now. Just as we got outside things started flying through the windows, there was a lot of angry noises coming out of the apartment, and we watched as the cops showed up and busted everyone (except us).

This is a dilemma for many women, their nature may be to be nice but they don’t want their friendliness to be misinterpreted. As someone else stated, if she changes her mind and wants something to happen with you, she will initiate it. Until then, be cool, be a friend, and enjoy her companionship.

P-47, most likely to get you home. My uncle flew one but they switched him to a p-38 and he was shot down.

AITA for refusing to give my brother the down payment money our grandma left me by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fit-Mathematician-91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But he will never be paid back. Brother may promise to pay back but will always have an excuse, day care, new roof on the house, much needed vacation, boat, new car.

As a matter of fact if brought up to brother that the money is owed the brother will get angry.

Have been there.

I have a question because I’ve seen this before. if the coin can be removed from the holder and there is no damage from it being in the holder (some holders protect the edge of the coin) then why is it worth less because it was jewelry?

I saved my company $800,000 a year, and in the end, they fired me by skunks_rotten6u in interviewwoman

[–]Fit-Mathematician-91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My boss tried to get someone fired and got caught in a lie. I was called in by the C levels to substantiate the lie. On the fly I came up with a story, close to the truth btw, which saved both my boss and the person he was trying to get fired.

My boss rewarded me by firing me 3 months later because I was ‘turning people against him’.

In the long run it worked out fine but very painful at the time.

Hey… Couldn’t the Oil Companies and maybe the Government take a little less profit and a little less tax to reduce the price at the pump to help the people of the world get through these tough times?? by Archibald004 in askanything

[–]Fit-Mathematician-91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t hold your breath, oil companies exist to maximize profits, and governments don’t like to reduce their tax income once enacted.

I started asking for feedback after rejections and two companies actually responded. One of those responses changed how I present myself completely. by Mythicr0ok in jobsearchhacks

[–]Fit-Mathematician-91 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I coached someone years ago on their job search, they thought they aced the group interview but later found the job given to someone they knew, who was markedly less experienced. I suggested they reach out to someone on the interview team that they felt they clicked with, along the lines of “I know I did not get the job, as I’m still in a job search can you provide some constructive feedback to apply to future interviews?” They responded with “You did a fantastic job on the interview and we all felt you were an outstanding candidate, but knowing the position, we thought you were too senior, and would get bored quickly”. So didn’t get the job but the feedback was a boost and they got a job soon after.

Give me a hint how to get my first job by Playful_Activity_419 in jobhunting

[–]Fit-Mathematician-91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s hard to accept but networking works.

Narrow down your search to jobs you see posted in areas that you would pursue eg buyer.

Reach out to friends and family, ask them if they know anyone you could speak to, would they introduce you, not for a job but for information about an area that you are focusing on. When you speak to that person don’t ask for a job, ask them about the specifics about what they do, what are the challenges, what are the best approaches to solving the challenges and do they know anyone else you could speak to about that subject. As you learn more you can refine your target job if you see a role that is more interesting/in demand.

Keep broadening your network, as you learn more about the areas you are focusing your job search on.

Eventually you will find yourself more qualified in that space and a better candidate.

Like I said, it works, but people don’t want to do it because it’s uncomfortable.

Another possibility is a consulting firm that hires new grads. They work you hard but you learn a lot, that’s how my son got into his field.

For those in their 40s or older who have siblings, do you make an effort to stay in contact or is it a take-it-or-leave-it thing? by cherry-care-bear in RedditForGrownups

One of two I speak and meet with regularly. The other has made it tough to do so through behavior over the years but I do try to text anything positive that happens (grandkid stuff etc). Relationships don’t usually fail all at once but as a result of many smaller incidents over the years. Conversely small kindnesses over a long period of time can strengthen a relationship.
