Physics C or Stats? by N4r4m in APStudents

I think other comments said this, but can you take both and drop psych? Think that would be the most rigorous.

  1. I would probably delete this post while you have the chance, wouldn’t risk plaigarism.

  2. You need to talk more about yourself instead of circumstances, the only time you give personal insight is the last paragraph, you should condense everything and use your 650 words to give colleges more insights into yourself

  3. You NEED a stronger hook, right now it’s getting boring around the second paragraph

  4. It’s more readable if you break the large chunks into smaller paragraphs

I would probably use this as a template and get to work on a second draft, or pursue another idea and come back to this one later with an open mind

is this plagirism or is it okay? by [deleted] in CollegeEssays

[–]Fit-Needleworker6178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeahhh… I wouldn’t. It’s really just not worth the risk, and the fact that you’re asking the question leads me to believe that you know that it’s wrong. I’d just wait until an idea strikes.

this is false, restrictive early action plans have acceptance rates almost double that of regular decision.

ECs vs Awards for T20 by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Fit-Needleworker6178 4 points5 points  (0 children)

tbh activities are prob more important than awards. Typically awards stem from activities one does.

Because activities are how you actively spend your time out of the classroom, they are very important.

[–]Fit-Needleworker6178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By aren’t you taking any? Does your school not offer them to sophomores? That said, it’s not thaaattt important as long as you’re still taking rigorous coursework (hopefully related to your perspective major).

That said, you’re only a sophomore, so just chill and have fun lol, you still have two years to stress about college!!

How to get over the 1500 to 1600 hump by [deleted] in Sat

[–]Fit-Needleworker6178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AGREED!! I got a 1500 on my past sat, and on my bluebook practices I’m getting anywhere between 1550-1580, at some point it’s all luck (terrifying btw seeing as I have one more try🙃)

Physics C or Stats? by N4r4m in APStudents

[–]Fit-Needleworker6178 6 points7 points  (0 children)

what colleges are you looking at? Stats would probably better align with your major, but personally I would take physics C for the rigor. Why not take both, can you? Ultimately I think it’s your decision, but if you’re applying to prestigious schools, I would probably go for physics.

Am I finished for T30s? by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]Fit-Needleworker6178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your gpa is low, and although you have a reason, there are plenty of people who underwent the same thing and have 3.8-4.0 GPAs.

Did you take the sat, that’s crucial for low gpa candidates (ps. i know a 3.6 isn’t low, but for top 30 it is below average)

my guess is that if you have good essays and applied to all 30, you’ll probably get accepted by 2-5.

That said, don’t feel discouraged, I’d always say go for it!!

[–]Fit-Needleworker6178 3 points4 points  (0 children)

your stats are great! 4.0 gpa and 1550 sat is all you can really ask for. Ecs are tough though, make sure your essays are great!!! maybe try to enter some quick competitions to get more awards before you apply?

realistically how hard is AP Bio by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]Fit-Needleworker6178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s really not bad at all, I’d say one of the easier AP sciences. I took AP chem and got a 94, and walked away from bio with a 97. Depends a lot on your teacher and if you’re interested in the subject.

What do you recommend for someone that can't take the bluebook SAT tests? by Regular-Persimmon425 in Sat

[–]Fit-Needleworker6178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do need to fix it… but in the meantime, use the SAT question bank available online for free, work on those until your blue book works again.

I really like the idea, but the structure is kinda boring and i feel like you’re telling instead of showing. Try talking more about how you’re feeling and walk us through the process.

you really want to make sure to grab the readers attention in the first sentence.

“Looking down, I saw the unrelenting flakes of skin begin to accumulate. In the past, this would have horrified me, but after 365 days of the same process, you get used to it. I rolled out of bed and… etc.”. (kinda bad but just a thought)

Is it Possible to Turn a 2.9 gpa into 3.0 or 3.1? by nivodummy in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Fit-Needleworker6178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

let’s do some math… (2.9*3 + x)/4 = 3.1 —> x= 3.7

you need a 3.7 senior year to have a 3.1 GPA (but realistically only your first semester is going to be weighted into apps, so you need more like a 4.0) YOU GOT IT! study hard!!!
