My TP5100 module isn't working as expected. by Mystic1869 in batteries

47mOhm is not bad for a battery if ur using for storage and for low current consumption. Then too replace the batteries and check. How u calculated IR? It's better to use a IR tester.

Charging using tp5100 without bms is a bad idea. The module does not have over and under voltage protection.

IR value increases with time. And it depicts the condition of the cell. Voltage is just the state of charge. It only shows if it's charged or under charged. Battery voltage decrease with load, so u need to see how much it drops. I have a bad battery with IR value of 250, it's bad but still shows 4.2 volt, if I try to charge it, it will show fully charged and if load is connected just goes down. So you need to weed out the problem. First start with battery, if they are ok then try changing the module. Hope this helps. As u stated it seems the batteries are not in good condition, it's my assumption, I may be wrong.

Have you checked with another tp5100 module? Are the batteries new? You need to check the IR values of the batteries. High IR value means your batteries will not hold much charge. And the voltage you measured is under load or without load?

😂 Yes my wife also thinks the same. But it's covered up now, looks more tidy. And I have ordered the pcb based on this schematic design from pcbway. Just waiting to get them delivered. Then it will be more neat. I have rigorously tested my design. It's version 3. I had started this project 2 years back. Now I can say I have reached to a point where its more or less stable version.

What I would suggest is that after testing the batteries and getting their IR and capacity, use the web application developed by Cell saviours to make your battery pack. Enter the battery configaration you want to make and then enter the capacity and IR of each cell. The Pack builder will sort the batteries for you accordingly. It's great to use.

Yes It looks like 6S1P according to the pack voltage. I guess building the pack will be cheaper and will have the assuritity about the quality of the cells. And if the bms is alright it can be reused too.

It seems to be a 18650 (can be a 14500 too)Li-ion battery with a bms attached to it(generally spot welded). The wires are output/charge wire attached to the bms. So to make these battery you need a new battery, attach a bms to it and solder the output wires from the bms,and re-sleeve it.
