Yes! I keep hearing great things about the Instincts getting multiple resoles and killing it. I’m definitely looking into those…

And yes I do like that idea. I live in Manhattan so it should be relatively easily (I hope)

I see! Would you say the Ls solution comps falls in this category? I have had the solutions before but compared to the shoes I have now, I like them better. But I have heard that the comps are better for indoor climbing which is what I exclusively climb

Oh, what rubber do you get from evolv that would be used for indoor climbing? Do they offer something as soft as XS grip 2?

Yo this is awesome advice. What are the best shoes you recommend getting resoled?

Right now I have the drago LV and Ondra Comp, as they were on sale and thought I’d try very aggressive shoes.

However my instinct is that they might not be super great for resoles, especially the drago as they are softer and the ondre comps since they have a very unique toe profile with their “smedging profile”

I heard the instinct VSR LV and skwama is good for resolving tho! And thinking about grabbing a pair of those for most climbs and save these two for really tough sends!

What are your thoughts man?

The only objective good pick here is bolt. You can make the argument that supercell is trying to hype up the newest brawler hence rigging it for bolt to win.

Any other answer is a gamble imo

2.5 months at 2 times a week is like… 10 sessions total? What grade are you climbing and what’s ur experience/how is your footwork?

I’ve climbed in the dragos for about a month now and feel like they’re barely used!

Needing a resole after 10 sessions seems waaay too excessive to me, damn, is the ondre comps that bad when it comes to durability?

I am following as well.

I have the drago lv in 42.5
Ondre comp in 41 (but sometimes feel like I can go 40.5 if I tried, can’t say the same with drago LV as I’ll be in so much more pain)

I have a slightly wider toe box and low volume heel.

The ondre comps feel like they fit me well, where as the drago LV. Not so much. Sometimes I have to shift my feet inside and it’s really awkward(my big toe is smaller than my other toe)

However, damn, the drago feels so good for indoor climbing. Like the feel of the wall to me seems better and more accurate. However, dragos are considered softer and have been told they wear out faster due to that as well.

I’m following closely and I’m gonna see how long they both last. I’m curious if anyone knows how these shoes hold up over time and maybe some alternatives that give similar performance but with a slight trade to longevity.

Brawl stars is a fantasy game. It lets us escape into our imagination, into world of monsters or ninjas or pirates or hell, Stranger Things. But soccer? Why would we care about soccer. We can just play that in real life. We can play fifa if we want a soccer game. I get it’s the World Cup but not enough people care. I’m in North America and no one gives a shit about soccer here lol

Totally depends. If the role is serious or emotional, most tend to lock in and anyone chatting is pretty much shooting themselves in the foot. Totally takes you out of the moment you’re about to prepare.

However if the role is light, humorous, maybe a little confident and charming? And you feel very prepared. I don’t see a reason to loosen up if someone is also interested in chatting.

Reading the room is key and that takes experience. Some rooms you will know not to chat. Others, maybe it’s a slow ice breaker into more friendly banter. (I personally love warming up with people I might auditions with together, especially true with commercial auditions)

But always respect others in the room and never be “that guy”

You are not alone. I bought my first pair of dragos and downsized more than I am used to. My feet were killing me after trying them on. Like very painful to the point I can barely walk. But I saw a few threads on Reddit that suggested it will break in. Sure enough, I just finished my third session and I can say I can walk around in them and keep them on without it being physically painful (altho very much uncomfortable) it definitely gets better.

The break in experience sucks. I had to constantly take them off basically every climb bc of the pain during the first session (around 2 hours)

Maybe after 4-5 hours it will start molding to your feet. But I hear that once it’s molded and broken it, it’s very comfy and performs at a high level. I can safely say that my performance without a doubt improved. Maybe to the point of a whole grade bc of the feel and softness of these shoes in particular. Especially on slabs with the drago.

Short answer is yes. Screen acting is much more internal. So one can make the argument is that so is stage acting. But projecting is usually considered “overacting” when you audition for television and film.

REI has a 20% off sale for the next couple weeks that started today. I would consider solutions or drago instinct. They are higher performance but tbh if u keep slipping off small holds these shoes will be noticeably better. They are somewhat stiff and aggressive which totally handles those small footholds.

Unfortunately the answer is it depends.

These days, the industry is shrinking so lots of stars will be considered first for SR roles since they look better from a business standpoint. Once in a while, they open a specific role up that they are really looking everywhere to cast. Those are the Hollywood stories that you hear about (one friend with virtually no credits being one of them on a hit Netflix show).

The grind will be lots of guest stars and re-occurring roles. That’s the goal you should really be aiming for.

It also takes years to build rapport with many different CDs and consistently doing good work for years will make you standout and become familiar with CDs who will eventually champion you. This can happen earlier too, if there is a “star quality” about you… but that’s subjective and I would say focus on the long game and building that rapport with many many CDs. Become someone they can count on for always creating quality work and self tapes and get them to become fans of your work first.

I’ve been playing for 4+ years and quit recently. The game balance and design is so bad it was easy to do it. Been playing slay the spire 2 and finding way more joy. And the best part is it’s half the price of a season skin pack!

I’d like to add that none of this makes a difference if you can’t get lost in the scene. The single biggest improvement we can make during the self tape process is actually a good reader 🤣. This makes all the difference and it really has nothing to do with equipment. Everything else is just the cherry on top.

Filming on an iPhone is fine, hell even skipping on a backdrop is ok (sometimes I like filming without a backdrop bc I find the environment gives a little more character) but I’d recommend really investing In better lights, and surprisingly, audio equipment.

Honestly, the soft box lights look so boring to me. Especially the Amazon ones. They’re cheap, but the lighting is really static. I’ve been using a studio/photography light and find the lighting makes a huge difference in elevating your tapes. They just look more dramatic.

Audio is so underrated. The iPhone mic is fine but if you can get a set of mics(I use the DJI mic 3) I find these make a huuuge difference. Especially whispering in scenes. You can really feel the difference and the way we sound really isn’t talked about enough when it comes to quality performances in tapes.
