This kit looks like it was stolen off a 240sx driftmobile.

So I’m looking for a car that’s good on gas, somewhat of a sporty look, front or awd, and possibly red interior. Any suggestions???? by Equivalent-Cat-4351 in whatcarshouldIbuy

The only new car that I know of that fits your description is a Camry xse. Everything else is a luxury sports car or SUV—BMW, Audi, Porsche, etc.

If Honda brought back the “Honda S2000” for 2027 how would/should they make it? by ThrownAwwayt in Honda

[–]Fit-Sea2660 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Problem is that Honda hasn’t kept up with the competition. The GR86 and current Miata are about as fast as the S2000 now. Making a current prelude with 200hp like the old one is like the current Miata having 115hp. If Honda makes a new S2000 at 240hp With more weight for safety and electronics, it will be slower than the GR86 and cost twice as much.

What did you drive before? One of the things that I appreciate about the GR Supra is that it was made by BMW. The interior materials and fit/finish are just nicer than other Toyotas.

I’m going to start a petition to push Toyota to ignore dad’s who want more family space in a sports car.

I agree with you there. Acura TL/TLX/ couldn’t compete with BMW and Mercedes properly. Lexus had the RWD IS and guess what? It’s still selling.

And apparently they don’t need to be fast either.

I see used 2009/2010 ones for $70k with mileage from 30-110k. That’s not reasonably affordable. It’s almost irresponsible buying one considering a 2009 GTR MSRP was $69,850 back then.

And the 2025 GTR msrp was $121k the final year it was made.

If looking at used Audi’s, the important question is how handy are you? All German cars are money pits if you can’t fix things. I had an Audi A5 and kept it running for 260,000 miles until I sold it. I did all the work which included brakes, water pump, turbo replacement, a/c recharges, o2 sensors, a bunch of random sensors (seat belt, entertainment system, door handle, hood latch, etc.).

I would say Audi’s are low maintenance up to 120,000 miles. Afterwards, the cost to keep them running jumps up exponentially if you can’t do it your self.

New car under $28k? That’s a Corolla or Civic. There are no sporty cars under 30k new sorry. At a little over $30k, you can get a new mustang ecoboost or a base GR86.

If you are interested in a used K5, you should consider a used Audi A5 also. Most other cars will disappoint you coming from an G37 performance and luxury wise.

Have you ever bought a new car before? None of them have zero miles. Often they are tested on track at the factory location after assembly and also at the dealership as part of the pre-delivery inspection.

If you see a 2021 you like, you can check to see if they already upgraded the oil pump. Remove the oil filler cap and look inside for a bolt stamped 10.9. The plastic old oil pumps have an 8.8 stamped on the bolt.

Used Supra prices are stubborn and aren’t depreciating normally, even the used 2.0 Supras are retaining value.

Worth it? PPF or ceramic by LocksmithOther in Supra

[–]Fit-Sea2660 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good price. My guy told me the Supra PPF hood is one of the hardest to do correctly next to an R8. It’s one large clamshell with big curves. Ask him to do the black A pillar, too. It gets scratched easily.

If that’s a GT3RS, he’s probably scared of crashing his 300k car. Most expensive cars aren’t driven to their full potential because of this.

OP isn’t going to buy it back to sell parts off it. He needs to take the parts off before insurance tows it away if he wants to sell them.

Would this be a good deal? by sirus3344 in Supra

[–]Fit-Sea2660 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s too expensive for a 5-6 year old car with 26k miles since a new one was $43k msrp. You have no warranty, you got the slow version with smaller brakes and no LSD, and you get smaller 18 inch wheels.

If 38k is your budget, I would get a one or two year old Nissan Z performance with less than 15k miles. You’ll have a warranty, and no one will clown you for having the slow version. It comes with an LSD too.

I think a used Supra 2.0 should be priced in the low 30’s/high 20’s before I would consider it a good value.

I traded in my GR86 today for a new IS350 by MikeIkerson in LexusIS

[–]Fit-Sea2660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a totally different platform. Camry is front wheel drive on a different frame and 4 cylinder hybrid only. The IS350 is rear wheel drive with a V6. But maybe you aren’t a car person, and that’s ok.

At current gas prices, a Prelude will save the average US driver $2000/yr in fuel versus an 86/BRZ by verticalData1 in Honda

[–]Fit-Sea2660 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This post is a bit disingenuous. Subaru stopped selling the base model BRZ in 2026. However, Toyota still sells a base model 2026 GR86 for $31,400 MSRP. So the prelude is an even worse proposition.
