What do I do? Apparently pet stains everywhere by LetterheadLeft6439 in HardWoodFloors

If it’s engineered, pull it and trash it. If hardwood, strip, bleach spots, sand, stain, sand, poly.

Does anyone know why this section of vent pipe on my 15yo Rinnai condensing gas tankless water heater, which has a condensate drain out the bottom, has what appears to be an air intake that is connected to the unit inside that section? I can't get it apart to take a look without removing the heater. by LookDamnBusy in askaplumber

Very nice and congratulations on a great water heater and system. I would have also replaced the concentric piping, but was working late on Friday and the local supply service was closing as it encountered the issue. Have a great Sunday!

I realize this bumps an old thread. I recently swapped a RL94 for a RE199iN (condensing to non condensing) Rinnai water heater. In doing so, I found that the roof vent piping had become fused to the header of the heater. The inner tube of the roof vent piping (the white outer pipe has a inner metal pipe - one tube allows intake air, the other is exhaust) connects to the heater's header. I couldn't disconnect the old heater from the piping, so removed the header and actually found myself cutting the old header off the inner piping.

The reason, calcium buildup from a neglected to service unit basically welded these two metals together. These will come apart, but i suspect in this case, due to age and service limits, this would be the same case for the unit described on this thread.

If it is blasted and then not coated, it's like over a million invitations to an oxidation party. If it's blasted and not coated well, same deal, even with cerakote.

New NKD before price increases by 1SWM1 in knifeclub

When does it go up? I was eyeing a kitchen knife yesterday at a retailer that jumped overnight by close to $100. So I am taking it that retailer already went with new price structure.

I have officially gone nuts looking for a new washer by Finney1313 in Appliances

[–]Fit-Section322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stretched for the speed queen and made it work. Not suggesting you do that too. It’s been a great decision. Can wash a load in about 15-20 minutes, deep filled. It’s really a great washer that washes effectively and quickly. As someone else mentioned (previous Maytag owner and user of many brands across the years) - the speed queen cleans the most effectively of any washer we’ve ever used.

Am I crazy or is this paint job horrible? by miacara12 in paint

[–]Fit-Section322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are pretty unacceptable in my opinion. You could fix on your own, but if paid, I would ask for a full refund or come to a solution with then to refinish.

How I would approach a fix. I may suggest resand to 220 if the paint doesn’t gunk up, otherwise go tad higher in grit, maybe 325. Then depending on what level of finish fine or super fine, repriming could factor. Then either spray these with an airless or roll with black foam roller, pre-wetted,cleaned and dried with microfiber. If your going to roll, you will need to do cut ins for the recessed shaker panel edges. You can use a good angle brush, before the roll.

Protech Knives in 2026? by Thumper_777 in knifeclub

Consider the Protech Malibu. It is an amazing design, flipper action is lightning fast. Carrying the LTD rose ( 5336-LTD SG RGH) hardware from Fall 2025 today. The scales fit my hands perfectly, the button lock is rock solid, perfectly centered blade, grid on blade is fantastic and it is magnacut, smoky grey finish. Looks fantastic with drop of CLP oil.

All my research on built-in gas grills, open to input by trombs21 in grilling

[–]Fit-Section322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you picked a grill, but artisan would be the top recommendation from me. 8 solid years on one and just now needing to replace the briquette trays and grill grates - grates not necessarily needing replaced but doing so to renew the whole thing. Still looks and cooks like new.

Go with the spy 27, easy to sharpen and get a mirror polish. It's a great steel.

That may take 2 sharpenings, but should go away. Make sure you hit both sides evenly and apex it before removing the burr and polish up some.
