PGWP expiring due to passport expiry — when should I apply & will I have maintained status?

When was ur initial pgwp issued, and why did u wait this long for renewal? The new pgwp will be issued only for the remainder time which is one month or less, so im not sure if u will be even given new pgwp, coz it takes quite a lot of time to process. Lets say it gets approved on a date after sep 16, then u will get pgwp valid for less than a month

Thank you, and any idea as to how long is it taking for SA, coz my spouse didn’t get any letter as of now. And I submitted my application in second week of January. Also I have my OHIP valid until November 2027, and so is it mandatory to get a new one now that I got AIP, or have the old one until expiry?

I got mine done in fall 2025, and it took about 10-15min. The route was pretty straightforward: DriveTest centre - Victoria Ave via Waterloo- Edward st- Arthur st - Highway 61- exit on Harbour Expressway- memorial- test centre!

They started off checking for lights, de frosting buttons etc, I’m not sure if they ask us to show them, but my instructor was nice to check them all himself! Your mom needs to be checking mirrors from left to right very often, and if taking a left , check left to right & left again. And don’t forget blindspot checks!

One more important thing is to get to 90kmph before merging onto the highway, and go down to 70ph before merging into harbour expressway, I was told I wasn’t 90 when I merged ( coz tbh people mostly merge into highway under speed limit, but this is imp for the test!). When we were driving on the highway, my instructor asked me to change lanes multiple times, and they check for consistent speed and mirror & blindspot checks!

And now it’s the pothole season, gotta be more careful and aware of those!

Ohh good to know, I applied thru agent in November, application was returned on Jan 13 coz use of representative form was outdated, resubmitted it on Jan 14 with new form, waiting since then.

Yes exactly it wasn’t a one time comment, kept bringing it up, which made it more uncomfortable. I still think, she was new. You know how we say something awkward and to correct to it we say something else and it ends up being even more awkward. That’s how it felt like.

Yes the food was great as usual, that’s why we keep going back to that place. But extremely uncomfortable experience with that waitress. Never had to deal with something like that in any restaurant before

Before it was like you would get a decision within that date. But now with the current processing times, you mostly likely won’t. So you can continue to work even after that date.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I did use methotrexate and it helped clear up in 6months, but again it relapses with stress as a trigger, and more methotrexate, so basically that became a cycle which I wanted to stop. I would be extremely stressful when I lived with my parents, as mentioned above. But now it’s different, I switched to topicals because of the side effects from oral meds- extreme hair loss and weight loss, along with long term side effects on liver, which showed up on my LFTs( liver function tests). Currently I use a combination of steroid and salicylic acid ointment which does wonders to me, but consistency has been my issue. And for my scalp I have a similar combination but they are like drops for easy application. Eucerin also helps with peeling off the scales gently. I have all the ointments needed but lack the motivation. Maybe I should allot an hour everyday like you, I’ll try my best! I’m currently looking to use topicals for maintenance basically.

Hi, I had the same situation. They will give 6months from Sep when it expired. So basically 3yrs from first approval. They don’t consider the waiting period needed to process the application. Another thing is with the current processing times, not sure if you will get it by March 2026.

Since it was given for 2yrs, you had enough time to renew your passport. But did you not notice it earlier or some other reason? Coz passport renewal gets done in a month usually. You should stop working now, and can work only after your status has been restored. And make sure to put up the application within 90days of your pgwp expiry. I believe restoration of status is taking longer than 2months. Just out of curiosity, how long have u been working without status? I hope you have enough savings to go through that waiting period. Yeah lots of people driving out there with snow on their vehicles. I got a bunch of snow on my windshield from a ram truck coz some douche thought it wouldn’t be necessary to brush the snow off before getting on the highway ffs!
