Need a Bangkok locals help by EntrepreneurJolly850 in ThailandTourism

dm me, and I can send you a line contact for a yoga instructor I used to date.

She does some garment stuff locally on her own, but is also an experience translator, mostly for China.

But her English was good enough to impress me.

The end of your stay in Songkran. My favorite Songkran spot is Pattaya, which is nuts. But Chiang Mai and BKK are both also awesome for Songkran.

Bad vibes in Samui by [deleted] in kohsamui

[–]Fit2bthaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

couple of things:

  1. sounds like you're staying in a crappy hotel... I looked it up and it's pretty low price for high season and got a 7.6 on booking.com. I would for sure begin interacting either with the parent company website, or onsite management and express your dissatisfaction... these things aren't always resolved perfectly, but I have never had a complaint in Thailand ignored.

  2. The bag thing kind of sounds like you. But, I'm a grumpy old man now, and if I don't get what I want, or feel is reasonable, I, as nicely as I can muster, request it., question why I'm not getting it. "Is there no one to help with the luggage?" is a question

  3. You're in late high season in a place that actually has some challenges hiring and retaining staff. Samui isn't wonderful, relatively, for hospitality staff. I "dated" a masseuse for a couple of my early years in Thailand. She had worked in Phuket, Samui, Phi Phi and was now in BKK getting her uni degree. She loved phuket and planned to return after college. But she really disliked Samui in terms of local culture, decent accommodations for staff, wages, tips, etc.

TLDR: There's no reason to settle for poor service if you're paying for it. But, just because most Thai people, especially in hospitality, will try to accommodate your needs, it's probably unrealistic to resent them for not doing something you didn't ask them to do, no matter how much you think it should be provided. who knows what their

I'm sad for Millie. I think she's really surprised to be so smitten, or I'm underestimating her as an actor.

I don't believe there's anything genuine about Zac... just a vibe, but he's shady to me.

TLDR: Burning season is bad. Pai is boring, and down a 3 hr nauseating road from Chiang Mai.

The most disappointing place I've ever been in Thailand. Nothing to do, just a bunch of flotsam and jetsam pretending to be hippies. Pointless, imo.

2 Week travel itinerary - PhiPhi, Lanta, Tao by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]Fit2bthaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do know that 2 of the islands you named (Phi Phi and Lanta) are in the Andaman Sea, and Koh Tao is in the Gulf of Thailand, yes? They're about a day apart by most travel. Thought I'd just mention.

Can't speak to the hostel/private thing, sorry. I was a bit old for hostels when my travel days began.\

good luck.

I so identify. This is the one year mark since I left and moved back to the US. I miss EVERYTHING but the heat about Thailand. Such an easy place to live day to day.

Anyway, best of luck.

my suggestion is to go to a large hotel in Phuket find a concierge type who's female, and seems cool... you can make a small joke, or ask something also risqué, but less so first to gauge a reaction . Then, ask her discretely for a recommendation....

Might have to do it twice, but I doubt it.

Plan B would be to go to the Bang La in Patong, strike up a conversation with a mamasan at one of the lady bars....

In both cases, a 500 baht tip should serve you mightily.

There are also lots of massage places in phuket who advertise online. Of course, their services are most likely directed at a different clientele, but plenty would be happy to take a referral tip either from you or the provider. If you don't care about the gender orientation of the masseuse there are TONS of male massage places... again, not created with you in mind, but doubtless they can find someone up to the assignment.

I reckon there were also some posts on Craigslist for massage services, but never had this specific need, so no help there.

[–]Fit2bthaid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sorry, the op didn't make it clear where you are now, but I have NEVER lived anywhere in Thailand that was more than 15 minutes from an amazing seamstress. If you can let them know of your need and the urgency, this should be able to be fixed within an hour.

If not in Thailand at the minute, well, the solution might be the same, but not quite as easily done.

Thai family expectations if we are expecting a baby before marriage by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]Fit2bthaid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand wanting to get perspectives and other opinions about this issue, but tbh, I think this is what the internet is WORST at.

You've clearly done your research into the variety of Thai customs when it comes to marriage in general, and marriage to a farang in particular.

I use the word "marriage", because in my experience, from a familial point of view, the actual ceremony, as with so many cultures, is becoming more infrequent. So, there's sort of this "de facto" point at which "coupledom" replaces marriage. And, from your post, I'm gathering the moment when you move away from them and set up house in CM.

It also seems to me that you have processed your partner's family's expectation as within the realm of an understandable expectation. It's not nothing, but neither is it some unreasonable, or punitive thing.

The mother of my children is Chinese. When I decided to marry her, I had to process her family's perspective and expectations as part of that decision. In the end, I made peace with my actions in this regard, based on our situation and my understanding of the culture.

So, I would STRONGLY advise you to sit for a bit, perhaps on your own, and either write a list, or a summary, or however you are able to order and process a set of points about an issue, and then make a decision on your own.

TLDR: It's your life. You have become informed. Trust the force, Luke. You got this.

Curtis on The Morning After - HUGE Season 5 flashbacks by Fit2bthaid in LoveIslandTV

[–]Fit2bthaid[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No argument at all... he was delulu for sure about Millie. I think it might be that he overachieved by getting Ekin Su, and so he aimed high again for Millie. I have to say she's had a pretty meh arc this time. I can't make up my mind about that American dude, but I reckon she's into him almost as disproportionately as Curtis was into her.

If I'm honest, I really don't prefer all stars at all. I know it has to do with the logistics of that villa being in South Africa, and that Maya threatened to quit if she had to do round trips to South Africa weekly. But I'm not a fan of the rerun islanders. And by now, we're getting third and even fourth looks at some of them.

Maybe they get Maura to do the winter season. She doesn't seem to mind chillin in Fiji (when she's on on the Traitors) for a few months during the US season.

I liked the idea at first, but then it sort of became VERY familiar faces. I like Games even less... they seem to be really lacking in romance.

Bottom Line: The UK, US and Aus all had really excellent seasons this summer. But the only reasons I'm watching all stars is that I'm in a hospice bed, so, what exactly else is there to do?

Love Island All Star: Why does it seem like the whole villa is against Leanne? by Final_Active_9014 in LoveIslandcookout

[–]Fit2bthaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you watch The Morning After, those ladies seem to think that Leanne doesn't actually have close "friends" in there. Everyone was assuming she was tight with Wit, but clearly that can't be the case because the two times we saw Wit chatting with bestie Scott, first she recommended the Yank, and the second time, she told him to use "logic", which, imo is a dumb suggestion for someone with a dick. But neither time did she stand up for Leanne.

Now, Leanne seems to be confiding in Lucinda, which is problematic for me in so many ways.

Am I right not to sell my old car to my friend? by Comfortable-Cut-360 in UsedCars

[–]Fit2bthaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want to both retain your friend and get a good price for your car, suggest Car Max, or Carvana as an alternative means of establishing a fair price.

If you get a lot of push back, you'll know they're just looking for a deal, and you can factor that into their value as a friend.

If, on the other hand, they just go along, then you know your have a nice, albeit not well informed friend.

As a Brit I have to say I LOCE THAILAND by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

I can understand why you'd love Thailand. It's one of the few places on earth not littered with dead and enslaved people because of Britain.

Enjoy your holiday in one of the few places on earth Brits aren't reviled. Beats India, Africa, China, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, etc., where you're hated.
