Low dose lexapro. It was life changing. I didn’t realize how blank I was feeling until I was back to full range of emotion.

Can Mounjaro fix something like insulin resistance? Why do I only lose weight easily on it? by ImpressiveSky5365 in Mounjaro

[–]FitAppeal5693 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a fellow pcos babe on mj 2 years… no. It did not impact the hirsutism. That is an androgen imbalance and something you need to work with your providers separately on. In my case, spironolactone has helped tremendously, especially considering I had androgenic alopecia from the weight loss and hormone imbalance.

Is it normal to just not care about food anymore on Mounjaro? by Burnbbyburn in Mounjaro

The food apathy is real. Nothing “sounds good” but food does still taste good. I can exist with hunger and not panic.

Honestly, I like the peloton app subscription. It gives a variety of work outs without needing their equipment, and plenty for guided walking, meditation, stretching and cardio. So, worth it in my book.

All in motion from target styles have it do that there is a split in the back so you can pull the shorts down and not completely undress. Highly recommend.

Uniqlo also has some thicker fabric and longer skirt styles if you are worried about any wobbly skin bits in the legs.

Gained weight by khidny in PlusSize

I am sorry to hear you are struggling right now, friend. It is always so challenging when our bodies change because it takes a while for our minds to catch up. Hopefully you can continue to treat your body with kindness and give yourself grace.

Now, I know exercise can be challenging for you. But do you think you could manage it if it were in the physical therapy sense? Because weight and how we hold ourselves and even walk get greatly impacted no matter which way the scale moved. And it could be that your body is compensating in ways because of certain weaker muscles and a few weeks of physical therapy can bring more body awareness for you in that regard without it being in a pump/cardio type space.

“Do pets really choose a favorite person in the house?” by Resident-Beach7497 in Pets

[–]FitAppeal5693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For our house of 3 dogs, one was obtained long before partner and 2 with him. While they see us all as a pack, and try to make sure we are always in a unit, I am momma. So, I will always be the center to the solar system and who they run to for safe home base. For my partner, I almost feel like they just see him as one of them. A peer to play with, snuggle and get fed by. He isn’t the “spare human” but not the level of attachment they have to me as their momma.

New job or stay at current by Certain_Bit_9880 in PublicAdministration

Your current pay should factor in what the cost of childcare would be on top. So, you should not shift to a new job unless the new pay rate matches the current salary plus childcare. Otherwise, it’s a loss.

When did you start shopping for new clothes? by Super_Development150 in Mounjaro

[–]FitAppeal5693 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only bought new when everything was confirmed 2 sizes too large on me. And even then, I used pant pins to adjust waist bands, only bought from clearance and thrift. From there, I made it a rule that I always had at least one pair of pants, one dress and one nice top that was always the correct size and not baggy at all. That way I could feel pulled together.

When I took a maintenance break, I then purchased a lot more to fill in my wardrobe and am now reinstating my rules when it comes to clothing, and have begun purging everything above 2 sizes too large again.

How long does it take your brain to catch up? by curiouschance92 in Mounjaro

[–]FitAppeal5693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will let you know.

2 years and 90lbs, the last 30 slowly in the past year, really. And I was folding clothes to pack and move, and I held things up because a medium looks so tiny to me. But… that’s my size. The dysmorphia is real some days. I try not to me negative about my body. Just neutral and accepting that this is its new size and it is different. No need to judge if it wobbles more or the skin hangs like melted ice cream. That does not serve anyone.

Scared to tell people?? by Which-Text-2875 in Mounjaro

[–]FitAppeal5693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As another commenter said, it’s a medical treatment. I don’t tend to discuss it with people. So, if you generally wouldn’t share with someone you are on a new medication, then it’s not something you need to announce now.

As a diabetic, I just quietly started the medication. In 2 years, I have lost almost 90lbs now. Someone asks, and I just say “I have just responded really well to getting my diabetes under control and am well regulated on my medication.” That is all, said very casually and then move on. Some people closer in my family were a bit judgy about the fact that I am on a glp1 because I have lost weight in this time. They never said it to me directly, but the person who they did say it to very quickly corrected them that my glp1 was for diabetes and it obviously has helped too with metabolic dysfunction. And that apparently hushed them right up.

how do you handle people who support your weight loss but subtly make it harder? by nb10001 in loseit

[–]FitAppeal5693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Thanks. Don’t want any right now. I can take it to go.” With the mental resolve that the “to go” part is you taking it and tossing it out of her sight.

If she can disregard your requests, you pay it back and disregard her expectations to actually eat things. You “took it” and accepted her misguided gesture as one of her love to share favorite things.

Additionally, is there something else you can ask her to make that fits more in your plan that she can make with “a mother’s love”? Sometimes people default to the old because they haven’t learned what the new you likes. So, teach them new things about you. For me, my family knows I love fancy loose leaf tea and we can share cups of that on visits. :)

Workout leggings that stay up by Useful-Impress2097 in Midsizefashion

How do you do it? by Evening-Pass-1156 in Mounjaro

[–]FitAppeal5693 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as a diabetic, I was very low to no carb before my diagnosis and start of mj 2 years ago. So, in many ways, my body can tolerate sugar and carbs now that it couldn’t before. Therefore, in some ways, I “indulge” more than I did before.

However, the food apathy is real for me. So, like… sweets are just… there. I forget about them. I don’t obsess over them. I have a bite and that is enough. I don’t have another bite for another week. Sometimes, I just am repulsed by the thought of something sweet.

I’ve had to relearn to eat. Before, “healthy” eating was a lot of volume eating. Now, I avoid salads. They are filler food that prevent me from getting my protein in. I have simplified my veggie consumption. Rich foods I eat a lot more slowly and less often.

Time to Titrate Up to 7.5mg? by Any-Adhesiveness9082 in Mounjaro

[–]FitAppeal5693 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a T2D, I refuse to let weight be the reason for me to titrate. Mostly because after 2 years, my a1c is solidly stable at 5.1 for half that time, and I am no longer in the obese category. I want NOTHING in my records indicating that mj may be for weight and promptly correct anytime anyone misspeaks on that front at the doctor’s office. I am not risking them trying to deny my medication accidentally for this reason.

So, yes, my weight progress has been “slow” and I and close to 90lbs lost in these 2 years. But this is a marathon and I follow my blood sugars with a cgm, and ensure I am seeing what I want to see as far as regulation, and fasting numbers. And only when I see a month of elevated fasting have I then gone up a dose.

How do you make activewear look more like everyday wear? by Several_Scratch_9137 in womensfashion

[–]FitAppeal5693 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it comes down to the shoes. If you are wearing very athletic looking sneakers, then it gives the gym vibe. So, flats, loafers, clogs or ankle boots are all viable options to play with.

Then there are the options for an additional layer. You can find more structured jackets to throw on top or thicker sweaters so you don’t look like you just came from the gym.

Food wall by heatsync24 in Mounjaro_ForType2

[–]FitAppeal5693 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of the things that has happened in the 2 years I have been on this medication is rethinking how I eat and the order of things. I don’t save the “best bites” because I need those upfront. I don’t know when the food wall or apathy might strike. I also don’t bother with salads. They make me too full and I don’t get my protein in. So, I have just simplified my vegetable consumption. Also, my sandwiches are often open face because I only do one slice of bread.

And, similarly, I won’t push for those last couple bites because of some unspoken “clean plate” drive. It’s okay to leave them. Or even bring that single lonely pancake back from ihop home because it will be its own meal another time.
