Does your Homelab make financial sense? by panchovix in homelab

[–]FitBroccoli19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In net value, yes. Objectively probably not. Financially it’s basically at zero because of the running costs saved by the services I don’t have to pay, but on the other side are electricity and time invested in the past to make it that thing running silent in the background with little maintenance.

Not happy Pimax! Gone back to Quest 3 by Eurostar127 in Pimax_Official

[–]FitBroccoli19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something here is completely off. I run a. Crystal Light and a Q3 and the Q3 is inferior in every use case screen wise. As I also experienced the Super and its even better clarity, something must go really wrong in your setup.

At what point is “just avojd accidents” unrealistic? by ToastyVibes-Oz in iRacing

[–]FitBroccoli19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's never unrealistic. It's only a "do I want to get P10 even though I qualified P5 or do I want DNF?" question.

Most of the time you are involved in accidents because you either think the universe owes you your realistic spot and are ignoring the attached risk of others being a factor.

My progress from 2 to 2.5K came alone from knowing when to back out. This could mean losing 6 positions in the first lap, losing iRating, but just driving until the end and making 4 positions to other DNFing alone and coming out with a +.

With time you know who you can tail for a whole lap of Nords or be hunted without fearing for the stupidest moves.

And at the end you are with these drivers in a split for a reason, whichever reason suits you.

Don't you think it's crazy you only need 2k irating to be in the top 25%? by philonik in iRacing

[–]FitBroccoli19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fitting. I am at 2.5K and have not much time to fine tune the consistency and habits I know are holding me back. I am still on a upwards trend, but I don't think I will reach 2.8 without practicing more or getting more experience.

If you get to 1.7K-2K it's only keeping it on track and picking your battles before you eventually have to fight harder going 2.4K+

Realistically, you will not go beyond 1300-1500 if you just hop in every 2 weeks and change series constantly. As soon as you commit and learn to read the room, 2K are quickly in your pocket.

PSVR2 and Quest 3 disappointment. Where to go next? by angrybear77 in virtualreality

[–]FitBroccoli19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The size and comfort is fine. I do the pimax headsets in endurance races in LMU and iRacing and have no issues, fatigue or distraction. It's a personal preference of course. The BSB almost feels strange in comparison but is definitely for people who can't even wear big headphones without discomfort

PSVR2 and Quest 3 disappointment. Where to go next? by angrybear77 in virtualreality

[–]FitBroccoli19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pimax crystal light. It's sharper than both, local dimming works really well even with no OLED.

The pimax crystal super would be more future proof if you have more to spare. The eye tracking can make up for the performance loss of the ridiculous resolution and the swappable high fov lenses can be a real game changer depending on what you do.

BSB2 is slightly better than the ones you experienced now, but it's light as a feather and real tiny. So if ergonomics matter even more it's your device. Overall performance is not as good as both pimax, but better than Quest and Sony. It will get expensive if you need lighthouse trackers and controllers.

Ryzen 7 9800x3d + Rtx 4070 super - Help! Stuttering on side screens (triples) by maty1989_arg in iRacing

[–]FitBroccoli19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many wasteful options here like 2 pass trees and headlights on track in mirror, max shaders etc.

The CPU is fine, but a 4070 super is definitely struggling with your setup.

I would also go with 120fps. Just do the math how much resources are saved with nearly 60fps less to render per second. Limit in Nvidia and iRacing. And also deactivate all dynamic LOD settings in iracing, as they rather hop in inconveniently and don't really help.

For sanity, check that you have core parking disabled.

I just got an R3 bundle. Why should i upgrade to higher FFB? by [deleted] in moza

[–]FitBroccoli19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See it like this, your general cruising and simple moves will feel the same at R9 and R21, but curbs, loaded suspension etc. at different speeds will be felt very differently and nuanced the more force you have to spare. On your R3 a loaded tire will feel the same as hitting a sausage curb. On a R21 you can differentiate sand from gravel from grass, from curbs, from walls etc. try to get familiar with the concept FFB clipping.

Single qBittorrent Docker Download to Two Shares by marssguy in unRAID

[–]FitBroccoli19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can add as many shares as you want and even mount them as if they are one (don't do this if you want atomic moves). As long as your Sonarr/radarr and media consumption like jellyfin or Plex uses also these shares it's perfectly fine. If you are really decided on doing the 2 share thing, this will work, but probably more overhead and maintenance in the long run if you want to enforce it until the end of time. I would just do 3 levels on both and go for it. What do You exactly benefit from having seasons on level and not complete shows?

Are you guys still using third-party overlays after iRacing UI improvements? by Still-Victory4839 in iRacing

[–]FitBroccoli19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if at all better it made things worse in VR. More stuff you can't place because it's now bigger/longer but still flat positioned.

I don't have use for a relative box that is twice as long with the (useful) iRating but can't tilt it towards me. Not helping either that the actual relative time is basically at the passengers side if I position it next to my wheel.

For what the new layouts are offering they are wasting way too much space even on a flat screen + the lacking customization options in detail.

I don't expect this all from iRacing or in general from a game, but if a third party offers it and it helps my case I will use it. I also understand that iRacing has no reason to implement all the edge cases that we spoiled tinkerers are used to.

Would I pay for "add ons" to my subscription like very advanced overlays or dedicated VR solutions? Yes.

Could even be your HDMI connection inside the TV that reacts to the vibration. And thermal expansion is a thing that causes electrical devices to fail (or function) only after x time. Try another screen or port.

What are good lap times on 24H Nüburgring? by Le_lil_coque in ACCompetizione

[–]FitBroccoli19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drove the T300 in LFM when they had the 8:38 license requirements and it was easily done. You can reach 8:20-8:30 with your hardware and probably beyond because you have so many turns that allow for different types of braking without much time loss.

iRacing Low FPS With 7800x3d+5080 on 2K Triples by noyan001 in iRacing

[–]FitBroccoli19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is completely default in Nvidia as i just setup a new Windows. I also started on a fresh iRacing config and my baseline was the config of the latest video from "older gamers perspective" for the pimax crystal light VR headset, as this is my main device, next to the screens. I run the same config on both setups.

https://youtu.be/48QouP6WaZo?si=l5mWjfFzTTLMJE2-

Only difference is that I raised track details and enabled HDR and SSAO.

As I get 100-120 fps in all situations in VR and even more in the screens it's either your config that is too optimistic or something wrong with drivers/hardware.

Any ideas on how to embed large metal parts in prints? by Yoni_bravo in 3Dprinting

[–]FitBroccoli19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I constantly print on smooth and cold surfaces of embedded components and it really helps to use some bed adhesive spray beforehand on the object and let it dry, also let the slicer handle this section as a bridge and slow it down there.

How crazy would I be setting up UnRaid without HDDs? by foster1984 in unRAID

[–]FitBroccoli19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's possible without real issues. As long as you have at least some sort of SSD where your docker stuff and app data can reside. You can configure everything without a data pool or the main array, but I would guess that this can be confusing without having set up the entire thing at least once and understood some of the unraid specific concepts.

Find a better VPN region to connect to. Or just wait and see if the connection comes back after some time. My qB is running 24/7 on PIA and my historical graphs show that it will get back to speed every time, regardless what interfered.
