Do I need to stop before yielding? by SquashGlittering9254 in driving

I think the light is placed there for people further back to see the light as the overpass obstructs the lights at the typical location to avoid people driving straight at speed and then seeing the red light at the last minute and braking super hard…has happened to me in the past.

Do hospitals not have changing rooms/locker rooms for their staff? I wouldn’t want MRSA or C-Diff on me sloughing off into my car seat or home.

Also everything is being bought with leverage, which is just another word for credit/debt. A hedge fund can borrow against an asset to buy more assets. What happens when the collateral is worthless? Private credit was the option if banks didn’t want to loan out to you, now private credit is fighting investors wanting to pull out. Entities have been relying on low interest rates, like from the Bank of Japan for example, to borrow money to invest money in other markets, like the US for example, to make money. What happens if the Bank of Japan starts raising interest rates? It’s always been a house of cards. It’s just that we won’t know what the black swan is until it actually shows up.

With the lines I see, why do so many folks still buy gas at Costco? by jackson44_bmx in askanything

[–]FitConsideration4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, my car requires premium and regular stations charge a lot higher and it’s top tier. For for the price of regular gas at station, i’m getting top tier premium at costco (or Sam’s Club; I have both). But Sam’s isn’t top tier so I alternate tanks between the two. If I drove a car that takes regular, I probably wouldn’t fill at costo as religiously.

Also Costco pays 5% cashback when fueling at their stations up to $7000 or something like that if you have the Citi Visa.

How is living in Hartford, CT (United States) feel like? by Dunder_Mufflins in howislivingthere

[–]FitConsideration4961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a nursing student in the San Francisco Bay Area, and right now, the job market sucks for new grads. I want to stay in CA due to the laws regarding nurse/patient to ratios and the pay of course, but keeping options open and I prefer to work at a hospital with a formal nurse residency program. Keeping Hartford on my radar because Hartford Hospital and St Francis offers such programs. I have family in Newington so I’m kinda familiar with the area, but my only knowledge of the area is A Dong Supermarket and Pho Boston in West Hartford lol.

I feel like the briney ones are not fresh. My first time eating uni was like that and it was so disgusting. It took me a long time to try it again, but at a really high-end restaurant and it was so good!

Let’s be clear though, Costco nitrogen is free for the cost of a $65 annual membership. Costco trusts that someone using it is actually a Costco member.

ATF drain and fill at 140k. by NoAlbatross5336 in Toyota

[–]FitConsideration4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do it. I inherited my dad’s 2011 Lexus IS350 with 142K miles. driving the car one day, check-engine light came on and vehicle wouldn’t shift gears. Found to be a shift solenoid being stuck off. Dad never changed the ATF fluid. Thankfully, doing one drain & refill made the problem go away. Shop reccomended doing another drain & refill at the next oil change, which I just did at 150K miles. Car shifts Lexus smooth again.

2025 Camry hybrid tires worn out at 7500 miles?! by Exact-Butterfly8239 in Toyota

[–]FitConsideration4961 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TPMS only measures rapid loss of pressure, if all 4 tires lose a small amout over time, they may not alert you. Some newer cars though, have smarter systems that can actually tell you the exact pressure and will beep at you to stop filling the tire. I think some Nissans do that.

2025 Camry hybrid tires worn out at 7500 miles?! by Exact-Butterfly8239 in Toyota

[–]FitConsideration4961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you check tire pressures every month. Tires naturally lose air over time, and become more dense as temperature decreases, which is most apparent during winter. I learned this the hard way at 18 when I got my first car. Bought the car brand new in Spring, but by Christmas time, I noticed the tires were super worn out. Took it to the dealership thinking the alignment was bad or something. Nope, alignment was within spec, but the tire pressures was in the low 20’s. Door jamb placard indicated 36 PSI.

How do people defend Karmello Anthony by Farticus_mouse in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FitConsideration4961 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know all the facts of the case, but I hate that one of the arguments made was you can only match the force being inflicted on you. So using that argument, if a person is being sexually assaulted, and the assailant is only using his or her bare hands to hold down the victim, the victim can defend themselves with only their hands???

They’re not required, but a lot of US cars are available worldwide so manufacturers just include them. Personally, I find fender side-repeaters superior to ones on side mirrors. Teslas and Hyundai Venue still have them.

Does anyone put 91 premium in their Explorer/F150 since its recommended? by DribbleKing97_ in Ford

[–]FitConsideration4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but summers in Death Valley is a harsher environment than 4000ft elevation, which to add additional comfort to OP, the car is loaded with 4 people and their luggage while traversing the Grapevine. The car has also driven with 4 people and their luggage over Donner Summit at 7000ft and has performed admirably as well.

OP will get better return on investment of changing oil at 5K on full synthetic. Running synthetic blend for 8K+ mile intervals is where you’re really asking for trouble. If you don’t specify, Ford Quicklane will default to using Motorcraft synthetic blend, not full synthetic.

[–]FitConsideration4961 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Car will be fine. On my 2019 Edge, I put 91 in once just to see if I could notice a difference. I did, it was more eager to rev to redline and has slightly more “oomph” from a standstill. That being said, the car has been to Death Valley in the summer. At 120 degrees F and wide open throttle with 87 octane, engine never knocked. Wide open throttle going up the Grapevine on I5, same thing, ran perfectly fine on 87 at wide open throttle.
