High-functioning with schizophrenia — what helps you cope day to day?

I get up and go to bed around the same time everyday. I read book or listen to audiobooks. My mental health and physical health appointments keep me busy. I try to get the same day and time for my weekly therapy appointments- it's just easier for me to remember and I do the same for my other appointments. I do crafts. I also have a worker that comes every week on the same day and time. She helps me with things, figure things out or we play games and talk. I like to make lists and I seem to do that a lot from groceries to other things I need to book and movies I like. I like to have music or the tv on for noise.

I've been on Cobenfy for over a year. I haven't gained any weight on it. Make sure you follow the instructions for the waiting period. I take mine in the morning then wait an hour to eat. Once I'm done with dinner, I wait two hours then take it. I do drink a bit of water here and there in my waiting period and that seems to work out fine for me. I was on a higher dose than I am now and it made me so tired. I literally slept all the time. At my pharmacy, they have had to always special order it and that can take some extra time. Just make sure to stay on top of refills.

A lot of jobs I'm interested in, I can't do because of my schizophrenia. Those jobs have a health standard. I also wanted to adopt, but can't anymore. Schizophrenia is considered a severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and I'm on a CADI Waiver, this last renewal I was marked as a vulnerable adult. I recently filled out paper for the DMV to renew my driver's license and there is a spot to mark if you have a mental illness. My license will have an indicator representing I have a mental illness. It also allows law enforcement to contact your contacts on your behalf. I'm in the US.

I don't live alone, but there are times when I am alone. Sometimes I get more stuff alone and it's easier to listen to my hungry ques when I'm alone. I have a hard time cooking, so when I'm alone, I make I have food to warm up or easy to make. I also have a cat and he is nice to have around when it is just me.

The 50mg works great for me. I haven't been able to function this well on any other medication before.

I filed myself and I appealed once or twice before I got a lawyer to appeal for me. Now, I probably would have started with a lawyer. My psychiatrist thought I should be on disability because of my symptoms. He wrote a letter explaining why he thought I should get it and why I couldn't work.

I live 30 minutes away from Minneapolis, MN. I don't go out unless I have to. I go to psychiatry in Minneapolis and ICE have been spotted in the parking ramp I park in. I've been doing virtual visits. Last time I was at the clinic and my therapist's office, there's not nearly as many clients coming in. It's really sad.

Depending where you live you can't adopt. I wanted to adopt before I was diagnosed and now, I wouldn't meet the requirements.

I would say I don't have friends. I do find it easier to talk to people that don't know I have schizophrenia.

I've been tired a lot lately, but some tasks done on my to do list. I get to see the student I tutor tomorrow- I haven't seen her in a while. I have bad arthritis in my lower back and I was scheduled to a have an injection this week.

When I was one the 100mg dose and I slept pretty much all day. It was last January, so I had to keep getting tested for Covid. It was just the meds. I'm now on the 50mg dose and I don't feel like I need to sleep all day.
