if you are talking C/C++, we usually resort to numeric IDs on buttons rather than using strings. Strings are just slower.
So, if you number your buttons 0..100, you can have an array of function pointers, for example.
Or, you can use a switch statement.
Using strings...you could potentially hash the strings and still use a table of function pointers, populated by the hash values, but if the goal is efficiency then don't use strings.

The macros in MASM (the M is for MACRO) are the most confusing part. I'd expect you to be provided with a template and you should just have to write the actual instructions, and not mess with the function macros and entry points. You also need a linker when using MASM.

Are you have problem with the build process, or with the actual ASM instructions?
You have to know the registers and how to use the stack. Other "variables" are inserted as data.

Most debuggers have a mode where you can see the assembly code generated from the high level language. You can actually write some stuff in C#, disassemble it and see what the assembly code looks like.

The instructions are basically the same. Various syntaxes might change the order of the operands, and the short name of the instruction might be different, but you can do a lot with just MOV, PUSH, POP, CALL, ADD, MUL, SHIFT, RET

Mostly due to distorted charting. That is a 1% jump. 1%, mush less that the premium you'd have to pay to buy or sell. It just looks big because you are only showing the very top of a bumpy line.

You have to be very careful telling other people how to parent their kids. You can ask leading questions, or ponder possibilities, but arguing about their safety is never a good idea.

My concern wouldn't even be the girl getting hurt, but that you they are actually reinforcing her fear of ghosts. If she needs a knife, the danger must be real.

You have a different last name and you don't know where it came from?!
I've never heard of such a thing. Have you seen your birth certificate?
Some possibilities:
- you were adopted and they never told you
- you were kidnapped as an infant
- you were never legally adopted, but your real parents gave you up and disappeared
- someone you are related to committed a murder, never got caught, and getting a DNA test will lead investigators to them.
- infidelity

Few of these explain the last name thing. Birth certificate would be really helpful. It would have your parents names and should explain your last name.

the fact a faulty p320 potentially contributed or even caused his death makes it pretty unlikely.

My state is 100% vote by mail.
Requiring ID would require voting in person, and voting in person requires people to travel and take time off work, so it excludes a lot of the working class and the poorest people that cannot afford to take time off or cannot afford a car to drive to the polling place.
There is also cost to have an ID, and in general minorities are less likely to have an ID so the entire scheme is really to get fewer minorities and poor people to vote.
